If I were an elite (top 30) recruit, I would ask Coach Caldwell how I would become an AA and a high WNBA pick in her system?
Coach C will need to be able to answer that.
It's a fair question! Assuming Kim's elite recruits will play over 20 minutes per game and be good shooters, what'll definitely help their WNBA draft prospects is knowing how to defend well. I can think of a few players in the W whose longevity related mostly to their smothering defense, it's an extremely valuable set of skills, and not super common among the elite scorers out there.

Defense was their calling card in the pros, but they were offensive stars in college (ex. Alysha Clark)

If Jewel wants to be a go to player every single game she'll stay. That's really the deal.
Will Jewel be happy with 20 minutes a game if that is the coach’s system? Would a player like RJ be willing to come to Tennessee knowing she might be subbed every 2 minutes and play half the game? I don’t mind the style of play but automatically subbing 5 for 5 every few minutes—No! Maybe if you have 10 5 stars like Dawn Staley you can make that work. Otherwise an elite player is not going to want to forfeit playing time for the system. Not in their DNA.

Well your reply is irrelevant to what I posted.
But Jordy and Rickea were honorable mentions and were/will be high WNBA picks.
Rickea was screwed. She was 1st te AA player. She'll be drafted above several that were AA and goes after her in the draft.

The boosters/donors did not have confidence in Harper. Donors told White that if he made a change they would support NIL for Lady Vols Basketball. White got that commitment before he made the move.
We don't know that for a fact. That was speculation/rumor when we were waiting on a coach and when we were trying to understand why DW fired KJH right after NIL money had finally opened up. It seemed to make sense. If you remember, there was a ton of speculation about alot of stuff that turned out to be the furtherest things from the truth, like "swinging for the fences" and "home run hire".

Others have argued NIL was never actually a problem for KJH and just an excuse. So what you said was just a message board take, not proven fact. I probably wouldn't state it as outright fact.

I don’t mind the system, I’ve played that way on a few AAU teams but I also played most of the game as well, we wasn’t subbing every 2 mins. The subbing patterns is a concern for me, no elite player will sign up for that.
Well from what I heard from the radio guy that did Marshall games she mostly subbed 2 & 3 and sometimes 4 and she had even done 5 a few times. The gist I got from his narrative is that she had a couple of players she liked to keep out there together out of 3 main players at least 2 on the court. Of course the deepness of the team will drive the pattern. I assume the tall and the slower less condition would probably flip in and out more and be more conditional. it will be interesting to watch especially vs elite SEC teams.

You think a player like Juju Watkins would play in a system that takes her out the game every 2 mins, please give me an honest opinion?
That's not the norm in her system. Look at the minutes played I posted and quit making up shat that fits your hissy fit you're throwing. Get on board until tge ship is sinking at least. All thus BS your throwing does no one any good. Give her a CHANCE!!!

She was screwed by her coach.

You really need to be a top 25 team and competing with other top 25 teams for your players to be considered.

Kellie also never went to bat for her (edit this is not totally true. She did take up for her in a post-game presser). I don’t remember a single time that she took up for the disrespect Rickea was getting. Which was sad considering Rickea was basically the sole reason Kellie didn’t go sub .500 last season.

Coach Sam took up for her but not a peep from Harper.

...or she may want to renegotiate her NIL deal...
From Cora's article about Spear, which sounds pretty positive:

"She's told me what she has in store for me and how I can help this program, so I'm really excited about that," Spear said.

Spear believes she fits in Caldwell's style of play, which includes a fast-paced offense that takes a lot of 3-pointers and a lot of shots from different players. Spear added Caldwell can help her become a better defender, too, with the way her teams press defensively.

Spear likened it to Iowa, Oklahoma and Florida State's pace of play.

"From what I've seen, it looks like there's a lot of space on the court to get downhill and make plays offensively," Spear said.

100% CKC would have to be mental to use that kind of sub pattern at this level. She might sub more than typical earlier in the season, but if she is as savvy as advertised, she will get the rotation scheme right when it matters.

If we have 10 McD AA on our bench like them, perfect!!
She was around 3 minutes under Rickea and right around the average minutes leaders for our 2nd and 3rd most minutes last year…. I don’t think playing time will be an issue…. It’s obviously not 2 minutes on and 2 minutes off like people are claiming.

"Swing for the fences" and "home run hire" are both wishful hope. Hope is not a plan. Most on this board is conjecture. History has shone that elite coaches rarely leave elite programs. Those coaches usually get raises and stay where they are. White has a history of finding the next coach. His family is full of connections and basketball knowledge. White has a plan and is working it. My post is more truth than rumor. White does not make the move without knowledge of support.

No it’s perfectly relevant because neither of the two previous coaches ever had that winning formula either. Besides, just being an AA doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be a high WNBA pick. Zero correlation between the two.

Irrelevant because I was not comparing the two coaches nor was I criticizing coach C so no “yeah but” needed.

That’s great! If you have the players, you can definitely play that many players!

That’s something I said before, it’s like either she didn’t want to support her or she didn’t know the type of special player she had, she would talk like she was just any other player, and the offense reflected that.
