I see some people making a lot of Jewel Spear comments about being undecided. I just read what she said and to be honest it does not make a lot of sense to me. The team gave her approval to be part of a leadership team. She and others shared their input with the AD. They made a change. If you announced as part of the leadership team you were returning after sharing your input, then why are you suddenly undecided. Sounds like one or two things. She is seeking to get a guarantee on her role as the go-to-player on this team from the new coach. Or she does not think this fits her style of play. Either one is fine because that’s her choice. I just feel they need to let her decide one way or the other then move on or move forward. That doesn’t sound like a decision she is making in the best interest of a team. This is a personal decision.

You think a player like Juju Watkins would play in a system that takes her out the game every 2 mins, please give me an honest opinion?

My pitch would be that "you can play as many minutes as your conditioning allows". If you are ZZ, yeah, you can play 35 minutes, most aren't.

I think that is what most people in here are saying. If she can adapt from her sub patterns of every two minutes that she has had part of her system everywhere else she has went, then yes, that is great. If she has a player like ZZ and takes her out every two minutes, that isn’t a good thing.

I don’t mind the system, I’ve played that way on a few AAU teams but I also played most of the game as well, we wasn’t subbing every 2 mins. The subbing patterns is a concern for me, no elite player will sign up for that.

Yes, I’m all for pressing and turnovers. I thought Kellie’s defensive system was way too passive. I also like the idea of shooting a lot of 3s and lots more possessions. No problems with that. However, she will have a hard time trying to convince elite players who want the ball in their hands to come play a system where you only play a few minutes at a time. The system is great if it is adapted.

If what some of y’all have been saying is true then it sounds like he was being quite shady towards Harper. If the NIL money will be better for the new coach then why didn’t he do it for Harper?

The boosters/donors did not have confidence in Harper. Donors told White that if he made a change they would support NIL for Lady Vols Basketball. White got that commitment before he made the move.

I’m skeptical of this coach but she’s starting to grow on me. Hopefully she’ll exceed all expectations! Elite athletes will come not knowing the minutes they’ll get as long as they are winning. Several players go sit behind players because they know their time will come and that they will compete for titles. Winning can cure a lot.

I’ll have to really look at all the teams, but I don’t have much confidence in them anymore, but once all the rosters are finished I’ll have a better assessment.
