2024 Transfer Portal Thread

Good.

Maybe these negative a$$ hats will finally shut up now
RL says he likes our chances with Igor and Nebraska side is saying that UT has a lot of momentum there :)

Yesterday staff believed they still led, after his Baylor and Nebraska visit. Supposedly he’s telling coaches today. It might take a couple days longer due to the complexity of student visas. Barring a surprise, he’s going to commit. I think he’d make a phenomenal addition to the team.

Barnes is on record as saying he wanted and expected him to stay. I don’t know what to tell you bud, he’s a really good player, he’s going to be hard to replace. That’s why he’s so coveted on the transfer market.

Both true I guess. I had hoped for better to finish the season but he's by far not the worst big man in college hoops. For a $1M price tag I still think they've bumped their heads but seems like the player market is just heading that way.

Those declaring that Aidoo isn’t worthy of $1,000,000 are going to go ballistic when Nico Iamaleava has his NIL compensation renegotiated later this year.
The starting QB for one of these big time football state schools is the most famous athelete in that state. They may well be the most popular person period. They are easily worth several million a season in a market that is paying a basketball players 1 million.

The guy was clearly poor at his job. DK averaged 24ppg his last year at JUCO after averaging 13.3 as a freshman. Then back to back years at over 20 at Northern Colorado.
Think you got his seasons backwards. He averaged 8.9 in his first season at Northern Colorado.

So with Igor and Okpara potentially in the boat, not ruling out Tyson just yet but really all that’s left is finding another shooter/bucket getter like Lanier? Is there anybody else im missing?

Tennessee was selling out its arena before NIL so how does NIL now benefit Tennessee. The answer is it doesn’t. They now have to do it to compete but the NIL process does not benefit Tennessee financially.
No argument here. Nobody seems to be benefiting except the players.

I mean, the center market in the portal this year was pretty thin, who was a player comparable to Aidoo in terms of size and stats in a P5 conference? Ballo, who is reportedly getting north of $1 million from Indiana? Am I missing anyone else? People on this board are salivating over the Ohio State kid who averaged 6 points a game last season, imagine you’re a Baylor fan and see Aidoo’s stats and the standard 5 minute YouTube comp of dunks and blocks, I suspect you’d want to pay him whatever he wanted

That’s great news. Gotta think though that if we land Igor and Okpara that means Awaka won’t be back. I think @bleedingTNorange alluded something along those lines earlier.

onfocusgovols keep bringing the info, I appreciate it. I believe I have been following your info regarding the portal the last few years through Facebook. I don't think there is a person on this forum that hasn't had a back and forth with bto at some point, that is just part of commenting on this forum.

It’s a hard to compare when Ballo and Aidoo are both seniors and have only 1 year of eligibility left and have pretty much reached their plateau whereas Okpara has two years of eligibility left. Give Okpara a full offseason with Rick Barnes and more touches and let’s see the outcome

Ballo is not significantly better than Aidoo so it does makes sense. Just where the market is for players and that may correct eventually or just continue increasing.
