2024 Transfer Portal Thread

Think you got his seasons backwards. He averaged 8.9 in his first season at Northern Colorado.
He averaged 24 ppg his last Juco year, 8.9 ppg his first season (the only season of his 5 years playing he didn't average double figures) then over 20 his last two at Northern Colorado. When he hit the transfer portal he'd averaged 24, 20, 20, 13, 9 in his college career. If someone was saying he wasn't a scorer and implying he was new to double digit scoring totals they were very wrong and if they ranked him in the 40s, very epically wrong and were proven so.

It’s a hard to compare when Ballo and Aidoo are both seniors and have only 1 year of eligibility left and have pretty much reached their plateau whereas Okpara has two years of eligibility left. Give Okpara a full offseason with Rick Barnes and more touches and let’s see the outcome
Right, my point is if you’re a well funded college basketball program that found yourself in need of a ready made all conference center this offseason, it was slim pickings, and thus the market became expensive quickly

They have the same height and apparently both perimeter guys with no back to the basket game. I am hating on the guy.
We won’t need Igor to play with his back to the basket, he’s a stretch 4.

Another thing that Igor does that Pember doesn’t, is that he has legit handling skills

Is Igor going to be Drew Pember 2.0?
Drew was 190 here at 6'10/6'11. Igor is 6'9 225. They play in vastly different strength conferences too. The Big South is 19th in NET and the AAC is 9th. Memphis had 2 former 5 star, 3 former 4 star and 3 former 3 star recruits on their roster and only managed to finish 5th in the AAC. Igor has faced much better comp than Pember faces on a regular basis.

He was only at Northern Colorado two seasons. Tennessee was his FIFTH season. Recheck your math. With all the players in the portal, one who averaged 20 at Northern Colorado getting ranked 43 overall is not a slight. The gentleman was really good-natured and self-aggrandizing about it but explained his process. As a Vols fan I’ve witnessed our players being on the wrong end of way too many missed evaluations not to know the difference. This one doesn’t apply. NO ONE saw him coming and now EVERYBODY is looking for the next version of him…hence USC snapping up the leading scorer at his former school rather quickly.

The starting QB for one of these big time football state schools is the most famous athelete in that state. They may well be the most popular person period. They are easily worth several million a season in a market that is paying a basketball players 1 million.

And there will be a VN board meltdown by more than a few posters whenever he throws a worm burner or misses a wide open WR that gets behind the defense.

The LoTMs still fuss about the Barnes compensation package. It’s a weird fetish whining about the money being tossed around that’s not even their’s.

Supposedly Tennessee staff is going to get a meeting with Tyson…could just be him telling them he’s gonna be a Tar Heel, but not a bad development imo.
Gut feeling says it’s just him telling them of his decision. Either way, mad respect to Tyson for how he’s handled this recruitment, very mature and has shown respect to both coaching staffs throughout.

I'm trying to decide why an in-person meeting would be necessary even if he was trying to do the right thing. Feels like a phone call would suffice.

I'm holding out hope!

Yes - seems like Tyson has handled the portal in a way the portal should be utilized. I can respect whatever decision he comes to.

My guess it’s gonna be one of those meetings where he says “this is what they offered. Match it and I’m a Vol”
