2024 Presidential Race

I should have clarified, based on what he was told by experts and his advisors. And I do believe all of them acted in good faith. In retrospect, I think we can all agree that resources should have been focused differently, i.e. to certain more vulnerable populations. But that's 20/20.

I'll disagree with "good faith" on the part of the advisors. I think the further down this rabbit hole we go, the dirtier Fauci will become. The GOF research he's bankrolled is enough for me much less the really bad advice he gave during the situation.

I'll agree with PJ in saying Trump let him hold onto the microphone too long.

It’s not 20/20

There were scores of people, screaming at the top of their lungs, that the approach was wrong.

They were labeled as conspiracy theorists, attacked, and silenced.

Depends on who we are talking about and what they said. For example, this guy is an unqualified hack and an embarrassment to the state:

That is a problem for me, and one for Christianity in the larger picture. Just too many out there who profess to have faith and to adhere to those values, but they do it to gain something, be it money, sex, fame, or in this case political power. I think it hurts Christianity over the long haul to have people saying the "right thing" but then in real life doing the exact opposite.

What's worse is his denials of his shortcomings. To sin is inevitable, to claim to never sin and to lie and cover it up when you do, just to gain in this world,is offensive.
Oftentimes I don’t agree with your perspective, but you’re spot on right here.

One of Trump’s biggest mistakes was listening to the left wing nut jobs and RINOs. If given another chance he won’t do that again.

Faucci and many others were not acting "in good faith".

Funny...

He was also criticized for supporting hydroxychloroquine, the anti-malaria drug heralded as a coronavirus treatment by former President Donald Trump. A study later found the drug didn’t prevent Covid-19.

I don't recall anyone saying it was a prevention tool. But it was shown to help with the symptoms in a very beneficial way. Of course, you have to dig through the "horse de-wormer" media talk to get to the actual benefits of giving it during the disease itself. Of course, you knew this...

And this:

Like the governor, he had gained prominence by criticizing safety measures early in the pandemic, including questioning the effectiveness of boosters or the need for mandatory masking.

I think we all can attest (save a few true holdouts) that mandatory masking was not helping at all. Because as soon as masking was shown not to work, Fauci declared TWO masks was the solution. Then doubled down on that by saying people should mask up and wear a face shield...

And you wonder why people got suspicious over the government "experts" during Covid.

Interesting post. I agree with a lot of the dialogue here. The Bible warns a lot about this very point and Jesus gives several hints that even people that profess to be Christian will go to hell.

"Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? ' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!"

Matthew 7:22-29

To be fair, Biden and Pelosi have both cited to their Catholic Faith but also justified and defended actions that are clearly condemned in the Bible. Both sides seem to be guilty of it.

No, he didn't. Stop whining like a baby because you were asked to wear a mask in stores during a global pandemic that killed millions. Poor guy. We're all glad you survived that horrible hardship....

Asked to wear a mask? Buddy, the covid tyranny went far beyond people being asked to wear a mask.

Only if they think that Trump is the leader of Christianity or speaks for it. Last I checked, however, there is One Leader. There are many who follow imperfectly though. I have known a number of baby Christians who are shall we say rough around the edges.

But all of that is a canard for people to avoid looking at the sin in their OWN lives and to submit to Christ's Lordship - not Trump's.

This is the reality. People blame other people for their unwillingness to turn to God but in the end, it is the Spirit who convicts us. They blame others but the truth is they KNOW they are wrong but simply do not want to change.

"And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

It is not Trump who they will face at the last Judgement. Trump will answer for his own sins and how he followed the revelation of God that he had and so will they.

Paper masks was wrong - and people were screaming that.
Magic distance was wrong - and people were screaming that.
Closing schools was wrong - and people were screaming that.
Closing beaches and parks - and people were screaming that.

Shutting down the global economy for months was wrong, dangerous, and incredibly stupid - and yes, people had plenty to say about that too.

Are you intentionally making the argument of why Trump is even less electable this go around?

You just stated the reason why no one other than the far right should support Trump.
There will be zero compromise - which is exactly opposite of what the country needs at this point.

Here's the thing -- from what you quoted -- DeSantis actually did not in the beginning take a conservative stance on it. He was all aboard on the restrictions train. It was only later that he developed -- falsely -- the narrative that he "kept the state open," or some such nonsense.

Paper masks were used because people could not get N95s.

Distance was overstated as a preventative act.

Disagree. But it really needed in retrospect to have been a quarantine of the elderly. More on that in a moment.

You might be right but it went hand in hand with # 2.

My 88 year old mother lives in an ALF, five total residents and two nurses. About 6 weeks ago, all five got covid. One died. One just got released from the hospital. All of those surviving are showing signs of long-covid. For the elderly it really can be terminal, or certainly make them susceptible.

Mark it down ladies and gents, LG is correct.

No, I am stating that he will not be so quick to believe what unelected bureaucrats and politicians tell him.

Okay, you want to avoid the points I brought up... no problem.

But yes, every Governor did go into panic mode because the citizens were in panic mode because the media was in panic mode since they were getting absolute sh!t for "information" from the federal side.

Is that Trump's fault? Yes, partially... more than half. He allowed their guessing game to go on far longer than he should have and by the time it became apparent Fauci was FOS, he had been elevated by the media into some folk hero saving the world. Trump got trapped by the very monster he created.

So, anyway, I don't hold the lockdowns against any Governor. I do hold them accountable for keeping them going for fast longer than they should have. I'll give DeSantis credit for opening up sooner rather than waiting on Fauci to make a decision.

I hold the lockdowns against any governor that enacted them.
