In a few hours I will be teeing off at the Golf Club of Houston… on the PGA tournament course… goose bumps.
Awesome!! I've gotten to play a few of my dream courses. Harbor Town, The Old White at the Greenbriar, Homestead - The Old Course, Tobacco Rd. The only one that gave me goose bumps was the Old White. That was an experience I will never forget. Complete with your own caddy giving you yardages and recommendations. Shook off the goose bumps after about 7 holes and settled down. Shot 6 over on the front, but rebounded for even par on the back.

I still want to play Pinehurst No. 2 and Pebble Beach some day. Augusta National of course is the ultimate, but I have resigned myself to the fact that I will never get to play it.

There is only one course I want to play before I die..............The Old Course at St. Andrews. Going next year..........

I've hit one shot at Augusta

Attention all Golf Ho's. It may not be Augusta, or any premium pro course. But, there is a magnificent golf course in NE Ga, city of Hartwell, called Catechee. Has four rooms decorated after the Majors if you want to go full tilt, and a great restaurant. This course is a registered bird sanctuary. It was built by laying the course into the topography. It was not gouged out. It has a 142 slope rating. I got down to an 11 registered handicap there but it cost a lot of time and money. The best part...the course has very tightly manicured 419 bermuda fairways, as well as Crenshaw Bentgrass greens...the same as Augusta. Even when aerated, they roll beautifully. For a pro level golf outing at about a $75 green fee, it's worth the trip if going around hitting courses is your thing.

Well. I did manage a -8 on Round 1. But, basically all mine sucked by the end of their rounds and I picked a quitter (Matsuyama). And without a strong Round 2, I might go into the weekend with only one golfer. So much for my success with The Open. The honeymoon is over.

Oh yeah. I'm smoked. Going into Saturday with only one golfer. Jason Day will have to have a super hero kind of weekend to bail me out.

I wish that was alot closer to Nashville than 5 hrs. Looks wonderful.

We have a group that has a golf weekend every year. We used to go to Springdale in Canton, NC. Course was always in great shape and the views of the mountains are spectacular. They changed ownership and evidentially think alot of their place since the prices are high. Also, its 4.5-5 hrs from Nashville and as we have aged, the long road back after 18-36-18 and heavy amounts of brown water has made us look elsewhere. These days we go to Flat Rock, Al to Dogwood Hills. Its a mom and pop course (they actually built it themselves). About 5 cabins and you bring your own food. The course isnt championship by no means but does serves our purpose. Plus on Saturday afternoon, its usually empty and we can play a 5 or 6 some and they dont care. Plus its only 1.5-2 hrs from Nashville. Easy ride back hung over
