2022 Depth Chart

Calbert may be the RT. That will all sort itself out as they try to identify the best 8 or 9 guys. Without a doubt better quality depth on the OL than this year.
The depth is great to see. We will miss Cade. But, we are returning everyone else that played significant time while getting Harris and Calbert back, adding Mincey, and bringing along several promising underclassmen. I think it may be the deepest line we have had since Butch decided to focus on smaller faster guys.

True. And it isn't like Cade can truly be missed considering how much of the season he missed. Some guys were thrown in that weren't ready... and maybe one or 2 who will never be ready.

It's not a terribly glaring need but I'm uncomfy with one guy at punter and placekicker. If he pulls a hammy or something your special teams takes a big hit.

That has to be one of the more upperclassmen heavy defenses we'll have fielded in quite a while.

I just don't know. I pull for the guy but good WR's just seem to turn him around consistently. I hope he improves or someone passes him.

Im not saying he’s good. Just don’t know if anyone currently on the roster will pass him up.

Coaches bringing in Williams because they believe he will start at Corner. He has more skill than Burrell so if he picks up system and terminology He will Start. In CHRIST Alone

I'm actually somewhat optimistic about the JUCO kid and some of the younger guys who appear to have more athletic talent than he does. I would LOVE for Holiday to settle in and become a great CB.

Lot of experienced players there! Our offense is going to be dominate in year 2 returning all those starters.

Meh.

I wouldn't call what we have on the OL "depth". To me, depth is a collection of CAPABLE bodies. We have bodies, but how many are capable? I think sometimes we assume guys are capable because they were highly recruited, they've been here a long time, or because they've gotten some playing time already; but being the best option in a collection of bad options doesn't make someone a good option.

I think Cade Mays, Jerome Carvin, and Darnell Wright have proven to be capable against SEC defenses. Who else? It's nice to at least have bodies, but quality depth is severely lacking in my opinion.

Dayne Davis will be starting RT if Mays leaves... he started every time Mays was injured.
I would tend to agree, obviously that position is up for grabs, but putting him at 4th on the depth chart felt a little disrespectful. He's decent all things considered. Much better depth at tackle next year with Wright, Davis, Crawford, and Mincey. We were fortunate that Wright stayed healthy this year.

Kolby Morgan will be the punter next year assuming Paxton doesn't come back (I think he can if he wants to). He was the next man up from this year.

Seems like Calloway ended the season behind Merrill.. Thinking Merrill will be in the 2-deep in 2022. Don't think he'll be behind Calloway and two incoming freshmen... JMO.
think lmerrill will become valuable possession receiver for three more yyears ands will find nfl home

Now that we have the ESD class signed and have a pretty good idea of who's leaving (Mays) and who isn't (Hooker), I thought I'd put a projected depth chart together. With a few exceptions, I put most of the freshmen near the bottom of the depth chart until they work their way up. Of course, I expect that many will move up before the first game and many others will do so as the year goes on. I also expect we will land a few more portal transfers. In other cases, I moved some freshmen up the depth chart if I expect them to contribute quickly. I'm also projecting for some development in some of these takes. Anyway, this is what I have as of now:

If we can pick up a little good experience @ the lb positions, we can have the best season in about 15-18 years years.

I think we need the following from the portal/ JC to challenge for the East…
1. 1 OC/ OG
2. 1 WR
3. 1 LB
4. 1 corner
5. 1 safety

But they need to be starter level, even if they are 2nd string…I don’t know if we hv this much room, or if these positions can get filled…. Some can be filled with HS freshmen if they are studs and can play right away….

Our worst position group is DB, followed by LB… then WR, followed by OL… just not much quality depth in these groups…

White ahead of Merril I don't see, maybe.

Merrill didn’t play much the 2nd half of the season. His strength is his route running ability. White is a great route runner, as well, but also happens to be blazing fast and electric with the ball in his hands. I don’t think it will take him long to pass Merrill.
