There will probably be 3-4 freshman possibly starting and certainly more in 2nd rotation. Book it!
great to see everyone’s super hero Beckwith mentioned. Any updates on his protein shake program?

Brian Grant will be nowhere near a depth chart for at least 3 seasons, maybe ever. I saw a high school regular Joe wear him out for 4 quarters here in the Panhandle.

Now that we have the ESD class signed and have a pretty good idea of who's leaving (Mays) and who isn't (Hooker), I thought I'd put a projected depth chart together. With a few exceptions, I put most of the freshmen near the bottom of the depth chart until they work their way up. Of course, I expect that many will move up before the first game and many others will do so as the year goes on. I also expect we will land a few more portal transfers. In other cases, I moved some freshmen up the depth chart if I expect them to contribute quickly. I'm also projecting for some development in some of these takes. Anyway, this is what I have as of now:

True. And it isn't like Cade can truly be missed considering how much of the season he missed. Some guys were thrown in that weren't ready... and maybe one or 2 who will never be ready.
Cade got worked whenever he played somebody good anyway. It's not like he was Trey Smith or something.

I feel like Turnage and Slaughter should somehow both be starting.

Replacing Jackson and Taylor on defense will be tough. Burrell got picked on a lot NS looked bad at the end of the year. I thought Haden or George should have gotten those minutes. I had a lot of head scratchers on personnel on the defensive side. Roman Harrison is a guy that ought to be on the field more.

this staff is hesitate to put younger players out there unless they really show on the practice field they make minimum mistakes. They are really big on that approach.

How they employ new talent they have actually RECRUITED and signed hasn’t been tested in Knoxville yet.

we will see. They had a say in the last players coming in as to if they stayed or left.. several left. even young transfers struggled to get on the field.. and practice has been mentioned more than once for the reason.

Timing’s a thing. Heupel doesn’t get hired until January. Defections were pretty much set by then. Took more time hiring the final pieces on staff…like DC. Players available only contact was with an outgoing S&C coach in AJ Artis. So everything boiled down to what could be imparted from Spring on. Lends to going with athletes who’ve at least experienced competition at the college level. Presently they’re already practicing with a few enrollees and there’s a large number of EE’s showing up in a week. Instead of INTRODUCING themselves at Spring, these coaches will have had a chance to monitor their development by then. I’d go with history on this one. Heupel inherited mostly what Frost recruited in his first season at UCF’s helm. His second season he was starting a true freshman over a former ND starter. If they have it…they’ll play.

I think you’re overplaying their “say”. Pretty sure they didn’t process Toto or Lawrence and pretty sure they did on Emerson and Middleton. As you said…seeing will be done.
