Now that we have the ESD class signed and have a pretty good idea of who's leaving (Mays) and who isn't (Hooker), I thought I'd put a projected depth chart together. With a few exceptions, I put most of the freshmen near the bottom of the depth chart until they work their way up. Of course, I expect that many will move up before the first game and many others will do so as the year goes on. I also expect we will land a few more portal transfers. In other cases, I moved some freshmen up the depth chart if I expect them to contribute quickly. I'm also projecting for some development in some of these takes. Anyway, this is what I have as of now:

Going to need several WRs to step up. I've heard lots about Mitchell not returning - would be nice if he does come back.

Not bad...

I think Crawford will be a starter on the offensive line over Mincey

Mitchell won't be here IMO

Otherwise not bad projection until portal players leave.

Small will be the starting RB, and I wouldn’t expect Walker Merrill to be 3rd string. He’ll be getting some serious playing time in 2022 if I had to guess.

I believe both McGrath and Brooks return to thwart that Carver double duty debut.

Maybe but Crawford came on toward the end and some have Calbert projected at RT instead of OG. Davis' upside probably isn't as high as Crawford.

Yep. And I think you're right about Calbert...he could project at Guard or RT if he returns. He might be our utility man next year in case of injuries.

Regarding Mitchell

Was listening to the Ainge show yesterday and they brought up things they had heard about Mitchell.

He is an incredibly gifted athlete, but just was not picking up the scheme of the defense. He's a see ball hit ball kind of player like in high school, relying on his athleticism.

So the potential is there, but can we get him to stay and hone it in?

Seems like Calloway ended the season behind Merrill.. Thinking Merrill will be in the 2-deep in 2022. Don't think he'll be behind Calloway and two incoming freshmen... JMO.

I've got a funny feeling that Walker Merrill is going to move up the list.........Kid is a player. Just a hunch.
