2022 Army game bought out (merged)

You do realize Akron's head coach is also going to use this for motivation. We could end up with another 2007 Wyoming, 2010 UAB, 2013 South Alabama or 2019 Georgia State on our hands. Just don't complain if Akron keeps it close or if they actually win.
Who gives a rip about motivation?? It’s idiotic to play any team that chop blocks to death and runs an offense not used in modern times. Absolutely NOTHING to gain from it and everything to lose. It’s obvious, stop being obtuse.

Exactly except Uncle Lou decided to disregard that by making his troll Tennessee fans video that is Tennessee is afraid to play Army.

Just paid Army $500,000 to cancel the contract and not play next year and replaced them with Akron. Now Army is without a game next year. Any details on any other reason we would have dropped this game?
IT WAS THE RIGHT MOVE....CHANGE

Okay. So what are going to do if Akron plays us close or beats us? Hopefully you will be one to not complain at that point.

Not true. They have changed the standard for all service academies. Football Players do not have to abide by the height and weight requirements anymore. They have a period of time after they graduate to get back to where they need to be.

Army was the last to do this which is why they are finally coming on as a pretty good team.
think anyone on here should be calling them losers? Whatever on height weight, they aren’t as big, they have to have pretty high academic standards, pass engineering classes, calculus, meet military obligations, graduate with about 30 more credit hours than a typical college undergrad degree. Don’t get full summers to workout (12 week summer, 8 of which is doing rotations for training).

Lol no, I do not believe they should be called “Losers” but it’s a message board and people are going to say whatever they want.

I have plenty of West Point buddies most West Pointers are great people! I trained with a former West Point DB and the guy was a Monster.

Anyways, anyone mad that this game is off our schedule is just talking out of their butts. In football standards the Army game would have been terrible for us, we risk too much injury playing against that type of Offense and it just doesn’t make sense before SEC play.

If we have to worry about Akron by next year, we have far bigger worries than buying out Army.

I have family connections to Army through my wife. Beautiful and Historical Campus. I was looking forward to this game. I watched Army take on Vandy several years back.

This part is nonsensical.
Tennessee had a chance to honor MOH recipients at Vols-Army. Instead, UT ducked Army.
As if you can’t recognize MOH recipients unless you play Army.

it's a hit piece on UTK and UTAD

mentions everybody

evidently the reasoning behind the decision to replace Army with Akron ruffled some feathers

Our local mefia... They are always sleuthing in an effort to undermine the university...

What's got to be done to get them on Tennessee's side. And no...their efforts are not journalism. It's more like the university is an easy target, low hanging fruit. Or, maybe the press has a vendetta...
