Not completely ... you have to recruit guys that fit your system, that buy into that system, and your system has to be better than everybody else's. You can recruit a stable full of 5 stars, but if they don't fit with what you are trying to do you will still lose.If you cruit well enough to begin with, you won't have to recruit.
These star rankings crack me up.This, some fans don’t like reality. Have we had a good week in recruiting? Yes. Is our class ranked higher than it should be because we have so many commits? Also yes.
Will “most” (as indicated by an earlier poster) of our 3 stars get a 4th star? No, maybe 2 of them will. Certainly not most.
Are our coaches recruiting talent and not stars? Well...yes? But historically that doesn’t matter. Your top teams consistently pull classes made primarily of 4 star players and then have some 5 and 3 star guys to round out the class.
Do 3 star players outperform their ranking? Sure, some, but if you’re relying on outliers to build a program around then you may be hoping for something that will never materialize.
Will we lose some of the 3 star guys before NSD? Yep. Will we lose some of the 4 star guys? Yep. Will we lose some of the 5 star guy(s)? Maybe.
None of what you said matters. My post isn't about the future was about now the present. The past and future doesn't belong in the convo. Idk why you are having a hard time with this. Yes I joined in 2018 who cares. You must make a lot of pointless postsJoined in 2018. Lot's of free time on your hands. I was running calcs on my 1982 HP11C with made up rankings in the Forrest Davis magazine when you were a glint in your daddy's eye.
Yeah, ok. It's better for the average of 7 to be greater than the total of 10. Everybody gets it. It's still April. Lot's can happen before December when it counts and historically, UT can put a damn good roster of 5 star busts out there. Stars are important. Moreso at the end than the beginning.
That's correct. You still have to have competent coaching development, but if you don't have a strong foundation in place to work with in the first place then you have zero chance. You could give Nick Saban the Kentucky football team and he isn't winning a title with them.Definitely gives you a chance. The difference is between coaches that know talent and those who don't. I believe Jones averaged better than 3.5... but he didn't know or understand talent.
According to 247 we are ranked #5 (last night I checked). We have 9, 3STARS kids. I'm happy with the ranking but it could be better like Georgia's. We need to look at the average not the ranking.View attachment 274415
