2021 Countdown to Bowling Green

3 days.........

The 1998 season was obviously a special season.....undefeated and a National Championship! The undisputed leader of that team was Al Wilson. The Jackson, Tennessee native was a consensus All-American in ‘98 and was a three year starter. In the 20-17 victory over Florida, Wilson’s 3 forced fumbles were the main reason the Vols prevailed, and set in motion, the unforgettable season

In 1969, his first season as a Vol (frosh didn’t play varsity then) Bobby Majors continued the Majors family tradition as a special player. He caught 7 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown while also returning 37 punts for 457 yards and 2 touchdowns.
As a senior in 1971, Majors was named All-American, as he had 109 tackles, 4 forced fumbles, 3 interceptions, and had 2 punt returns for touchdowns.

a great -- unfortunately only got to see him play in person at georgia and in bham and some on TV. Had several frat brothers who were big fans of Bobby and Conrad Graham, having left knoxville for college in 1968

Since 1936, UT has had over 350 NFL draft picks, including 47 1st round picks. But, of all those greats, only George Cafego and Peyton Manning were the Number 1 overall pick in the draft. Cafego was selected by the Chicago Cardinals in 1940 and Manning was picked by the Colts in 1997.

Saved the best for last 👍

Well Peay, I guess the last one will be really sweet.

I can't wait to see it.

You've done a outstanding job on this for us this season my friend!!!

VFL...GBO!!!
Thank you again for taking the time to post the countdown. I’ve enjoyed the trips through UT football history that you share with VolNation.
Thanks. It's a lot of fun to do!

Well done, my friend!

Steve Early, the Boss of the Vol Network, refers to those of us who strive to preserve and pass on the hallowed traditions and history of "Old UT" as "Keepers of the Flame."

You have certainly earned that title!
