So states with higher population can dictate to states with lower population? That's exactly why it shouldn't be changed. There are 50 individual states with different needs and different views. Each state is represented in the EC. Popular vote does away with that representation. People seem to forget our country began with 13 colonies banding together for a common interest. The reason we "united" is because it served the best interest of everyone. If you allow popular vote to decide, states lose their voice. What is the reason to remain united if larger states take precedent over smaller states? The Constitution puts emphasis on the rights of states for a reason.“You know going into it that your vote doesn’t count the same as another American’s, deal with it”. That’s exactly why it needs changed.
This works both ways on here. If you don't agree with Trump then you are a communist.
In real life, there is definitely a middle ground. On here, not so much.

What do states have to do with anything? In an election that affects every American, every American should have an equal say. Anything else is trying to put your finger on the scale.
States rights have everything to do with it. Maybe you should brush up on your history. The EC was decided upon and written into the Constitution to ensure states were fairly represented. What do states have to do with anything? Because we incorporated as a union of states - not one big federalist mob dominated by a few states - and really just a city or two within those states. The process to come up with a Constitution lasted some time until the founding fathers were satisfied that the states - not people - were equally represented at the federal level. Otherwise, there'd never have been a United States.
People choose to forget that the FFs never intended for the federal government to grow into what it has become.Because we incorporated as a union of states - not one big federalist mob dominated by a few states - and really just a city or two within those states. Senators were intended to represent the state from which they came.Hmmm, great idea... except Wyoming has the same number of senators as California despite Cali having 50x the population... so the chance that Wyoming and all the states like them relinquish that power is none.
So, just to review, that’s two cases of rural residents getting favor in the highest levels of federal government... but you’re right, that’s fair.
Do you want to review the original purpose of the electoral college and it’s history, including the 3/5ths compromise et al? Or are you gonna stop at pointing to the constitution without logic?

Man, you honestly must have skipped history class. Have you even read the Constitution?
No, it wasn't. Confusing the Three-Fifths Compromise with the reason they decided on the EC does nothing to help your case. They decided on the EC first, then when debating on how population should be counted, they agreed upon the 3/5 Compromise. It was a fail safe so that southern states whose population largely consisted of slaves didn’t get left out of national elections. Tell me about the history though, I’m curious.
