zaggy, ask the people on this forum who actually hire people if they like to hire malcontents who constantly bitch about their situation. I don't hire people anymore since I am now retired. I would have not wanted you anywhere in my business. People like you poison the attitude of the team.
I think these kids have been raised to think they are special, and that the world revolves around them. They aren't special. I'm not special. The world keeps turning without any of us.I would have hired him and put him on 3400 caterpillar oil pump core disassembly . It has a way of making you appreciate things after a while . Lol
You stuck to your beliefs and didn't back down. That's commendable.Ok so I think I am done with you all for the day.
Let me leave you with some honest advice about 2020.
Even if you don't agree with me (you clearly don't). You might try better tactics than calling an entire generation of people freeloaders who don't want to work and are losers.
That's only going to divide this country more and regardless of the outcome of 2020, make it a heck of a lot worse.
Don't like Bernie, don't vote for him. Hate Bernie, don't vote for him. But maybe just maybe there is a reason why so many are resonating with his message.
That’s the most disappointing thing I run into in my job. Talking with hourlies, who have talent, but can’t stop blaming others for why they aren’t advancing. I started with my company as a server and cook at 19. Was a manager at 22. A GM at 25 and have held my current position since I was 31. I am 38 now. I get asked by hourly employees how did I do that. My response is always the same. I worked hard. Showed initiative. Kept taking promotions where everyone said you would fail there. And the most important thing is I didn’t try to be the smartest person. Because I am not. I saw what others were doing who were successful and I reached out and asked how they did that. Mentally get out of your own way. Don’t make excuses. Your results are your results. It’s not brain science or rocket surgery. Oh and one last thing is don’t have the same negative conversation with your boss twice. The sad thing is that he can still be pretty much anybody he wants to be in this country if he has goals, a plan, and sticks to it. The only thing that can stop him is him.

A lot of young people are jealous of the older generation because they have stuff , or are in positions of power or influence. The way most folks get stuff is through many years of hard work. I didn't have much when I was 20 something either. It takes time and patience.
I remember working for $1.25 I believe, but with inflation, that was probably equivalent to about $10.
He should listen to people like you. Many of us older guys who have a comfortable life now, at one time, didn't have 2 dimes to rub together. I'm proud of you, and happy for your success. That’s the most disappointing thing I run into in my job. I am blessed to work for a great company and to have worked for great leaders. I will never forget being 19 years old, and my GM at the time saying to me at orientation, if you invest in your 401k and stay with us you can be a millionaire in 30 years. I was blown away by that comment. I sat down with him one week in and asked him to explain that to me. Best education I ever got. Better then anything I was taught in school. He should listen to people like you. Many of us older guys who have a comfortable life now, at one time, didn't have 2 dimes to rub together. I have noticed that an awful lot of people that actually have money, don't look like they have money. Many put on a big show, but their tent leaks. As they say in Texas, all hat and no cattle. Appearances can be deceiving.I watched a guy working in that department , ( one of the nastiest place at Cat to work , it’s hot , old burnt oil mixed with old water ) that wasn’t ummm very smart not being mean just the truth , but he was always there , never missed , didn’t have new phones , or clothes , brought his dinner , did everything I or anyone else ever asked him to without complaining about it . It took him I guess about three years but he comes rolling in with a brand new , red Chevy Camaro . He never said a word about wanting one he just had a plan stuck to it . Come to find out that’s what he did with everything . Made a plan , stuck to it , worked hard , saved his money and bought what he wanted including his house and car . Didn’t owe anybody a dime . He also had a nice 401k plan . All that on a 12th grade education .

In the first 12 years of school, we are taught exactly what we don't need to know for the next 12.I am blessed to work for a great company and to have worked for great leaders. If you get rich quick, you are one of the lucky ones. There are a few folks who are in the right place at the right time, and hit home runs. Most of us go through life hitting singles. If you hit enough of them, you score.Key words here are the last used......time and patience. You'll think you won't get there but you will w/time & patience.....never quit and never give up. As they say.....Rome wasn't built in a day...

I grew up in a heavy dairy and tobacco farming county. My mother, who was in business always said that "you will find a lot more $100 bills in the pockets of bib overalls, than you will in business suits."One of the biggest rolls of cash I’ve ever seen came out of the front pocket of a logger wearing coveralls at a chicken fight in Alabama . Don’t ask I went for the experience . Lol
Compound interest should be taught every year to every student. Even in college. Every math class should start with a 5 minute reminder of how dumb you are if you aren’t contributing to your 401k. It’s crazy how much people leave on the table. In the first 12 years of school, we are taught exactly what we don't need to know for the next 12.
