2020 Primaries

It's going to be glorious when Trump hammers the Bern into retirement in November. You think the libs were crying in 2016 just wait until the Bern Bros realize they're not getting free chit.:)

Lol so for you the difference is we watch too much TV/streaming? And eat out more?

LMAO

No bud, wage growth has collapsed. Healthcare costs have blown up, education costs are blown up, and housing has blown up.

Is it odd the more the government gets involved in these things so the prices go up?

BS Again .. have you ever spoken to other people in these other nations about their healthcare and wait times ?

Yeah which are always less bad than conservatives make them out to be. Not to mention the dollar prescriptions and lack of copays and deductibles.

Oh and everyone has care.

so if you read this it doesn't say these people are earning minimum; it says they would benefit from raising it

specifically

important to look at everyone who earns between the current minimum wage and the proposed new one, as well as workers earning just above the new minimum wage (who would likely also see a small pay increase as employers move to preserve internal wage ladders).

so it is including people that currently make more than the minimum wage (7.50 at the time) up to 10.10. it also includes people at the time making more than 10.10. So someone making more than 33% more than the minimum wage are included.

Also, it clearly says only just over 1/2 (55%) of these workers work FULL TIME. You were arguing what a full time worker ought to be able to do with their wages yet nearly half of these people don't work full time.

Not everybody wants to have their taxes increased to further grow the welfare state.

And not everyone wants to receive free government cheese.

Why don’t we set up a program where people can voluntarily pay more in taxes to support a person in need? This would be the most novel solution in a free market society.

It could operate via an app. You browse profiles and sign up for who you want to support.

Maybe Jane’s profile in Tualatin, OR catches your eye, and you sympathize with her plight. You opt to have X dollars per month withheld to go straight to Jane’s bank account or onto her EBT.

We could get the healthcare.gov people to build the app.

That’s the thing, people like luther want to pay more but just as long as everyone else does. You can bet he takes every credit, deduction, etc to pay the absolute least amount possible.

how many people do you employ and what’s your weekly payroll? I know my payroll has exploded over the last 3 years. I have had to raise entry level labor w/o a degree to $15-$16 per hour with an automatic $2 increase after 90 day with 100% paid health insurance. I even pay to help them get their CDL. So don’t tell me wages have stagnated.

See the problem is you all will treat this election like a cakewalk and then have such a meltdown when you realize you should have taken it seriously.

I mean I though the tea party was crazy.

You all are going to have to riot in the streets when Bernie wins.

You don't have to. Just need more people constituting electoral college states and that should do it.

This is true . So what are you and your Bernie bro’s gonna do when the revolution is over and the Bern has been shut out from the Oval Office , for the last time ?

That may be the norm if he is.

You realize Bernie owns 3 homes, is a millionaire, and has never worked a day in his life.

You do realize a billionaire is 1000x more than a millionaire.

I have no issue with someone who devoted their life to public service and advocates for workers to have a million dollars at the end of their life.

live like someone from the 60s, get a full time job and you can have housing, a car and education and healthcare in our current system. if YOU can't do this you then you may want to reexamine some things.

Not to the same degree, but I'm all for greater regulation of the lending industry.
The fed govt guarantees loans and leaves students no recourse when they can't pay. High schools push college on students for years as required. Universities hike prices at will because they know they have an endless stream of new students and loans are guaranteed so the money will never stop.

But it's the lenders you think are the problem? Lenders that aren't the govt?

... And you have to wait to be diagnosed, then wait to be treated / cured .

Well considering that it's young people predominantly feeding the left wing of the Dems and the 65+ crowd who are the most Conservative on the right...

I guess just wait you out?

No one even a HSer should make 7.25 first off.

Second, you act like these workers are bottom of the barrel scum.

These are hard working, red blooded Americans who if they work their ass off for 40 hours a week deserve a baseline of living.
It’s a good life lesson to make crap as a teenager, in 1996 I was making 4.25 and it helped give me a drive that I knew I didn’t want to make that for very long.

I don’t think they are necessarily scum, most are probably good people either just starting out or have made some bad decisions. Plus let’s be honest very very very few are making 7.25

Great, by that logic let's just abolish it.

*Pauses with the slow realization that you all probably want that*

I want what is best for the company. And if companies take advantage of people word will get out. But this fairy tale that you are in doesn't work in the real world. When you raise labor costs 2 things happen less people have jobs and prices go up. Businesses open their doors for the opportunity to make money. When their business does well they hire more people.

Lol. What a f****** hypocrite. Why do you care about billionaires? It’s not up to them to support 300 million people.

Unfortunately most 40 hr workers today can't or can barely achieve this.

Not at first, non-Bernie folks will be too busy working to riot. After he tanks the economy we'll have more free time...

How do you feel about someone who started a company and employees people?

I do restaurants. The minimum wage in Kentucky is 7.25. You can’t find a 16 year old worth a damn if you don’t start them at least $9-9.50 an hour. The ones with any semblance of experience you have to start at $10. The notion that a bunch of grown adults are out there working for peanuts is laughable.
