Actually I’m not. His point has been to expressly denigrate the hiring of Harper and her recruiting efforts. I fully support the recruitment of Darby whether she is used as a 3-pt specialist or as an integral piece of the offense.

That's great, except that's not at all what we were discussing. There seems to be a prevalent notion here that Kellie really emphasized the three ball at Missouri State. You suggested three point shooting would be a necessity to be successful in the SEC. Both claims are erroneous...

Even more of a head scratcher she was the national freshman of the year not just in the conference but the country! Shows that you don’t have to be a top 10 kid in a recruiting service to do damage!

Sometimes those lower ranked players have a chance to shine on less loaded teams compared to someone like Queen Egbo or Destinni Henderson who have to settle for leftover minutes playing behind established stars.

Very true... but if these higher ranked players were up to their rankings a lot of times you would think they would numb someone out. My point was don’t turn your head on a player because she isn’t in the top 10 sometimes they play like Chennedy Carter and sometimes they play like Queen Egbo like you stated. Some even come on later in their careers to be valuable contributors. I just don’t care for those who wine because of a number or ranking in front of the recruits name 😂 I think about Blair Schaefer and some of the other players who weren’t highly recruited but were imperative to their teams success.

Wrong! This is what I posted:

Playing in the SEC and playing a national OOC schedule demands the implementation of all dimensions on offense.

That is to say that, ideally, a balance can be achieved in order to be more effective. You are erroneous. I did not suggest that “three point shooting would be a necessity”. In fact, I went further to state:

...if she is an effective 3-pt specialist, conceivably she should be even more effective from the short corner and the elbow and the FT line and etc. We need a (some?) weapon(s) from distance to start keeping defenses honest and create some space for our inside players and for more purposeful penetration.”

to emphasize that her value might be even greater inside the arc.

Also, you need to review the entire thread to recall what is being discussed. A large chunk contains your incessant negativity over Harper’s recruiting and her pursuit of this particular recruit.

Then by all means please quote these "large chunks" of "incessant negativity" in THIS thread. What I did discuss was Kellie's offense with her previous team and the personnel she is inheriting with this one and I really didn't see the comments as negative. Yes, I've made my opinions of recruiting and Darby clear in the past, but I purposely avoided it for this discussion.

Instead of constant ad hominem attacks, try actually reading what I write...

From one D'Arby to another:

Fortunately you have got
Someone who relies on you
We started out as friends
But the thought of you just caves me in
The symptoms are so deep
It is much too late to turn away
We started out as friends...

Regarding Darby, so do I. And, I like a well balanced offense. But, my comment has nothing to do with anybody's support nor disdain for the hiring of Coach Harper. You stated, " Playing in the SEC and playing a national OOC demands the implementation of all dimensions on offense." He points out examples, South Carolina and particularly Baylor, as programs that have done quite well in the absence of great perimeter scoring. You reply, "And those teams had an excess in other areas ---------- that allowed them to compensate and overcome (if not overwhelm) their opponents." You say success demands all dimensions then admit teams can succeed without if they are excessively talented in other areas. Ergo, you help prove his point.

My apologies. This thread contains chunks of your negativity about Harper’s recruitment of this player:

Tess Darby offer story

These two threads emerged within days of each other. I guess I mentally merged them. I am not motivated to quote them all. Your opinions have been very transparent.

Yes, I stated that within this context (which keeps getting edited):

Playing in the SEC and playing a national OOC schedule demands the implementation of all dimensions on offense.

I will amend it to say: “Based on our current personnel.....”

We don’t have a Kalani Brown/Lauren Cox or Aja Wilson/A. Coates/A. Jennings patrolling the paint or dynamic backcourts that Baylor and S.C. succeeded with respectively. Additionally, our university is one of the best examples of winning 8 NC’s minus a commitment to the 3 ball. They/we were deep and endowed with experience and talent. Our current composition is different. Therefore, I feel that Harper needs to address this dimension—not just 3pt. shooting, but more effective shooters that have to be respected by opposing defenses.

A lot of time it isn't all about the stars, give me a 4 star with the right attitude, gives 110% effort, the ability, has potential and the will to win, I am all in. For the last 7 years we have seen top rated recruits with a pile of stars come in, give us hope and fizzle out in the blink of an eye. I am excited to see what KJR can do.
