Wasn’t a guy by the Manning vying for a backup spot too? Oh yeah, we seem to forget that. I would definitely give the first start to JG but if he screws it up like I expect him to do, then we will see Maurer. How many times will it take for the coach to say, “we have to get the ball out quicker”. That is a constant theme regarding JG, but I will root him on until he loses the job and then I will root on the next man up.
I do think that is what makes Volnation so entertaining... I can’t help but smile as I read each minute. Basketball, Baseball, Lady Vols, Football... it is all the same... but sooo entertaining
I said I’m getting behind JG but I think Maurer throws a better ball. Whoever starts, I’ll be rooting for success.Keep in mind when talking about how Mauer has looked, despite his interception: He's going against the 2's. Whereas JG is going against the 1's and has 3 TD's and no INT's.
I plan to, yes.@Freak Will you be uploading the game?
The backup QB is always the favorite player when the team struggles. If he is better, he will play. It's really that simple.Wasn’t a guy by the Manning vying for a backup spot too? As far as experience, JG should start to prove he has what it takes. I hope he does well, but he needs to get to the point where the coach doesn’t keep pointing out the same flaw year after year.Maybe, but Mauer is a true freshman playing against the 2's on a defense that as far as we know, isn't that good. Gotta keep it in perspective. I certainly hope he's good enough to take the starting spot, but unlikely at this point imo.
Actually, I have watched Maurer from his junior year until now. I do like him and his leadership abilities. He is coachable. In my opinion, he throws a better ball with more velocity than JG. JG will start because it’s his to lose and he will if he doesn’t progress quickly with getting the ball out of his hands. The backup QB is always the favorite player when the team struggles.
