2019 MLB Draft Thread

Those numbers are straight from Perfect Game, and not much different from Tennessee. So all 3 programs are recruiting about the same number of HS guys. Since it was brought up that PG doesn't account JC guys, that's irrelevant to the numbers I presented.

But we're back to LSU, Florida, and Duke having coaches with several full recruiting cycles, and full rosters of their players, where Vitello isn't there yet.

The point is those other programs aren’t signing high volume of juco guys like we are

Look you can justify it if you want that’s certainly your right but having close 60 guys on a roster that has to get down to 35 is wrong. Signing kids to $ and lowering that before they get to campus is also world and that’s happening as well.

Our first signee just went in the last pick of the 14th Round. Andrew Beck

A massive turnover is always expected with a new staff. Provide a source with all the JUCO commits and let's compare the programs like I did with PG.

Serrano had 22 commits in 2016, and that's after several full recruiting cycles. 16 commits in 2017. Still taken from PG.

Maybe Vitello knows guys are wanting to leave. Maybe he's seen a work ethic that he doesn't like. You don't know the story any more than I do.

Oversigning is a must in college baseball. It’s a necessary evil mainly because of the draft. The issue is the degree in which a coach is willing to go over the 35 number. It’s been said here We are going to be close to 60 next fall. Imo that is way across the line of necessity and the reason why I am No longer a supporter of volunteer baseball.

I can tell you that a number of players that have fallen victim to this so far under TV don’t feel like he was upfront with them about the process they weren’t entering into. So tifwiw

Thanks. It certainly sounds like the NCAA needs to set some strict parameters so everyone is on a level playing field. You've got some schools self-funding scholarships which gives them a huge advantage, and other teams are way over-signing.

Imo it’s the worst sport to have your son being recruited into

just following the discussion and pretty much agreed across the board with everyone however I think the 60 number won't even be close this fall's roster number.

Maybe we should have a Pick'em for the fall roster, I'm guessing the number is more like 47 when everything shakes out.........and that's debatable about too high or low of a number

Yea it won’t be 60.
They have already started sending guys elsewhere

So, you agree that there's going to be a lot of turnover, but are going to whine about Vitello getting enough guys to replace those that leave? Makes sense.

By the way, where's the source to see the JUCO commits?
