I dont have them down as anything. I dont even know what the rosters look like. But given recent history, its insane to call them gimme games. But again, we are vols fans so we can call them gimme games and continue to lose them and people just smile and nod. Cause we are champs of the off season.

So if you don’t know the rosters why do say they aren’t gimme games?

You seem to be happy to say they aren’t gimme games without knowing the rosters but want to say it’s insane for someone that is familiar with our roster and somewhat familiar with their rosters to put them down as gimme games.

Maybe you should “educate” yourself concerning the returning talent of the teams you are posting about rather than giving an opinion based off your lack of information.

Next time instead of telling how much you don’t know and then blasting my opinion, just blast my opinion based off the past few years.

There are logical reasons why it should be considered a gimme game.
The only reason people say its a gimme game is Go Vols.

You have never heard the vols called champs of the off season? Lol, take a look back at this thread alone over the past few years and that will give you a good indication of why folks refer to us as that.

That is a bunch of respect for Florida. Sure Spurier had our number but Butch beat them just two years ago. It took a Hail Mary like play for them to beat us last year. That’s was with Butch as HC.

Put this in to perspective. In order for us to ever beat Florida we have to play our best game and they have to play their worse game
Remember when Florida played a running back at QB in Neyland. He could not pass the ball but he ran for 300 yards and a win. No way we should have lost that game
This year a horrible QB took us to the forth quarter and they beat us on the last play of the game
I always expect us to lose to Florida and Bama and LSU each time we play them.
If we can't win when Florida is very weak then we never will

Since 1990 we have beaten Florida a grand total of 7 times

At times we have had a better team but still lost. Other times we have had better coaches but still lost
Truth is that since 1990 they own us. We appeared in a total of 4 SECCG. Yet Florida has appeared many times

I predict 6 wins at best. You guys are forgetting we lose our best weapon of last year, Trevor Daniel. The punter was a field flipper of the first order and we will not replace his talent anytime soon. He gave us great field position numerous times though Jones couldn't hold it.

I'll just give one word of warning.

Pruitt, since coaching in college, has worked at Alabama, Georgia, and Florida State.

Not once in his college coaching career has he had to try to hide his unit's or team's deficiencies.

He didn't even have to worry about injuries. That's how loaded the rosters were on the defensive side of the ball where he happened to be.

I never like predicting the outcomes before the season. College football is just unpredictable. I do know Pruitt will have this team competitive and physical unlike last season's team under Butch

The evidence is in the recruiting for 2018. His players, including Butch Jones’s players will be better and ready to go in 2018. The evidence still stands that he has coaching experience already, because how can a guy juggle two jobs at once? Let me explain: he put his staff together while he was working with BAMA during the playoffs, he continued to recruit at a high level, and he kept up with his staff daily while doing that. My confidence level is to the point that he knows what he is doing to defeat these coaches. The fourth quarter adjustments that he made is evidence that he beat Kirby Smart, and that he shut them down. Philip Fulmer hired him to win championships, and I have faith in our AD, to get it done. Fulmer must know a thing or two about Pruitt, and he has chose a winner in my eyes. That is enough evidence that I have. He is a genius, and soon these coaches are going to find out what Pruitt is made of. Where is your confidence level at in Philip Fulmer to get the job done to win?:rock::good!:

We will not lose to Mullen. Pruitt knows his system, and will take it out.

We have to change the psyche of the team. ( We hope to beat Florida ) to ( We will lose to them under any condition) Even when we were the better team Florida would not accept that we would beat them

Something that will help more than that would be a solid game plan that doesn't take perfection to be successful. A little more chess and less checkers.

It's a shame the Dooley and Jones years even count as real football. Jones did beat all of the east teams. Too bad it was spread over 4 years.

How could CJP do worse than Butch? Similar question was asked about Butch and Dooley? 0-8 is the answer.

Your statement was that Smart Mullin etc lack the ability to beat him.
And your evidence...
-2018 recruiting class. Sure he has done okay. Gee i wonder what happens when we rely on a bunch of freshman and underdeveloped upperclassmen does? Also, we recruited well, have you considered that other coaches recruit well as well?
- he has coaching experience....how much as a head coach? How does his head coaching experience compare to Smart, Saban, Mullen etc? Because you are aware aware they have expereince as well right?
- 2nd half of the NC game....please expalin where Saban and 5 stars at every position factor in?

There is no research to be done. The majority of the roster has never beaten Vandy. So saying itd a gimme is a bit stupid.

Alabama wouldn't hire a HC with no HC experience. If Pruitt does get the Alabama job in the future, that would mean he did very well at Tennessee, so thats good.
