2018 Midterm Election Thread

lol, how would that possibly be intentional? Crowded restaurants also take longer to get into, and liberals tend to pack themselves into densely-populated cities by choice.
When voting locations are established, both number and locations. Is that not obvious?

There are. I just think a posted hot line number would be a good addition. If you got multiple calls about one location, there may be an issue. I think our system is good, but it could be better. One of my biggest issues has always been the discrepancy in wait times at various locations. Especially as it nears closing time. A two hour wait would be something some people have a difficult time with. The wait always seems worse in areas of density which also happen to be the areas most likely to vote blue. Whether intentional or not, I think it impacts vote totals.
I've never understood why we vote on Tuesday. Just do it on Saturday or even over a 2-3 day period to accommodate schedules.

There are more polling places in the highly populated areas. Are only Republicans in charge of deciding where polling places go? It seems like that would be a decision made by local election folks, who are likely to hold the political views common in the area (i.e., people in charge of that kind of thing in NYC are likely to be liberal).

I don't think Tea Partiers were in charge of setting up the polling places in Manhattan or San Francisco.

Which, IMO, is getting out of control. In some places can't you vote something like a couple months before the election as "early voting?"

I'd dare say most people that would vote a month in advance aren't likely going to be swayed before election day.

Everybody knows that blacks are too poor to own a vehicle, and have to walk to the polls. That period of a couple or three weeks of early voting gives them time to walk to the polling place.

Don't know. Link? If they are there out of necessity because the voters would otherwise feel unsafe, that's one thing. If they are there in an attempt to intimidate people into voting a certain way, or keep people from voting, then that's something else entirely.
Don't know huh? Well then let me ask this, how would you feel about KKK standing outside polling places holding clubs?

This is gonna be all about turnout. Dem win House/GOP keep Senate the likely scenario - but turnout could shift either since so many races are so close.

Interestingly, the # of House toss ups has increased over the last week.

Blue trickle/Purple Wave likely.

Your daily installment of xenophobic fear mongering from the WH. The media should just not show up. This is not a press conference; it's just a chance to spew propaganda for the midterms.

You mean CNN should miss a chance to spew its propaganda by not showing up ? That’s not how this works ... that’s not how this works at all .

The video that Trump tweeted yesterday was shameful, it cemented his legacy as a fear-mongering bigot. It's the only way they have a chance to win. They can't win on on policies or character so they resort to divisive propaganda and the base believes every word of it - they are the most gullible electorate of all time.

Just saw a new poll that said the Republicans could end up with 54 possibly 55 Senate seats and while they would lose seats would likely keep the House as well.

Link to the poll? Most of the ones I have read show the Dems margin expanding in the house but Repubs keeping the Senate easily.

Does this stuff not make your head hurt? White people voted for a black president twice over a rich old white guy but they turned into bigots in 2016?
