2017 Vols will have the #1 or #2 ranked DEFENSE in the SEC

I'm always talking in a humble tone.

No you're not. Your words say, "I am above you, and you're all idiots for not believing in what I believe in."

You can say you're humble all you want, but like D4H's predictions, they hold no water.

Believe what you wish. I am humble.

Blind leading the blind. You're basically saying, "I'm smart because I'm smart and everyone is stupid."

Even with how little he posts, he's shown to be 10x smarter than just about everyone on here.

But go ahead and keep calling the smartest posters on this site blind.

You're swinging 10% so far. And yes, I actually counted.

So let's start this thing over. I am not saying that we aren't talented. We obviously do have talent, and we have very good athleticism. We aren't debating that at all.

We are debating the potential production and cohesiveness of our defense. I am saying because of years of bad development by Coach 23 and his staffs, we will not be the #1 or #2 defensive unit in the country. When we had to play discipline and assignment football, we truly blew it. GT was a pure coaching game from a defensive perspective. All that game says is that we are a poorly coached defensive unit. We currently have lower tier linebackers.

You dont know much about nationdom. So you think he is one if the smartest posters on here? Ok then. Nationdom thinks that we would have beaten Alabama in the SEC title game last year.

Now, consider what they effortlessly did to us in the season. Please tell me how in the hell we would have stood a chance in the SEC title game? Would superstars with first round talent like Justin Martin have helped us? Get real dude. Nationdom is just a little bit smarter than you when it comes to football knowledge.

Absurd, But, I wish D4H, I wish.....

The real question may be will the Vols finish last in the SEC in defense?

Ever heard of the saying "Great Minds Think Alike"?

I got better stuff to do than pretend to be someone else on a message board to prop myself up.

But go ahead and believe whatever you want.

Football is 90% mental, 10% physical. You ignore this truth over and over again.

Go back and look at our rushing production in 2015 against elite defenses like Florida and Alabama. Then compare it to what we did against North Texas that year. The transitive property doesn't work like that in sports. Teams regularly have down games against inferior opponents after putting it to a elite opponent.

I was watching the end of the Alabama-Fresno State game yesterday and the announcers said that Fresno State gained as many yards against the Alabama defense as Florida State. They also scored more points.

Does that mean that Fresno State is a better football team than Florida State? Or does this simply mean Alabama wasn't up for them like they were FSU the week earlier? And that they also played a lot of young guys because they wanted to see what they could do?

I don't know why its so hard for ya'll to comprehend that one game doesn't affect the next.

Dude, this is you basing a whole AL prediction post based on results across opponents.

Comparing Alabama to Florida and Texas A&M

And as for those predictions:

1. Off by over 500yds.
2. Predicted 3 to 4.5. Actual was 1.0.
3. Predicted 8 to 8.5. Actual was 4.2.

Predicted score 38-35. Actual was 49-10.

Thank you for showing why the transitive property doesn't work. I learned my lesson last year. Maybe it's time for others to realize this as well.

While you're possibly in the mood to learn something what had people's ire up wasn't so much a transitive argument (though some might have dabbled in that) but patterns. GT wasn't red flagging people so much as a function of giving up a fair chunk of rushing yards but rather more rushing yards than anyone save Kansas (whose only 2 wins that year were N Illinois and McNeese St) since 2010. Not "this team vs that team"...anyone. This combined with a pattern (again, not just cherrypicking) of poor defense. 11th in just the SEC in rushing and total defense last year.

I'm not going to just state something I can't possibly know for certain (that's your bailiwick) and say what TN's D will/won't be going forward but people being critical up to this point aren't exactly operating in a vacuum.

How dumb do you have to be to need the "transitive property" to be demonstrated for you, before you will believe it?
