Jennings will play safety next season. Ask someone else close to the situation...........
I'm not asking anyone....you are overlooking the most important factor when it comes to playing safety...closing speed, transitional speed, recovery speed. JJ just doesn't have enough of what UT needs at that position. I often see TKjr. looking a little slow back there so moving him up isn't a bad idea seeing that he does tackle well. I see Warrior at SS and Abernathy at FS. JJ can continue giving his juke moves instead of being juked.

2017 Starters

QB - Jarrett Guarantano
RB - John Kelly (Alvin Kamara if no draft)
WR - Josh Malone
WR - Marquez Callaway
WR - Josh Smith
TE - Ethan Wolf
LT - Brett Kendrick*
LG - Venzell Boulware* or Jashon Robertson*
C - Coleman Thomas
RG - Jack Jones*
RT - Chance Hall*
* Hard to tell who will start where because they have all been moved around and have tons of experience at multiple positions (group played well considering)

DE - Kyle Phillips moves back outside
DT - Shy Tuttle
DT - Kahlil McKenzie
DE - Alexis Johnson or Darrell Taylor
** There will be great depth along the DL provided no injuries
OLB - Todd Kelly Jr (Weak Side)
MLB - Darrin Kirkland Jr
OLB - Quart'e Sapp or Ja'Quain Blakely (Strong Side)
LCB - Baylen Buchanan
SS - Nigel Warrior
FS - Jauan Jennings
RCB - Tyler Byrd

N-B - Rashaan Gaulden (2 LB sets)

P - Trevor Daniel
PK - Aaron Medley

Great breakdown-- B Buchanan has not shown much getting burned and being out of position, Josh Smith has literally been worthless this season(don't remember him making a single catch) and where is Bituli? I do like the player position switches though, hopefully this will happen.

Thank you. Why most assume this is baffling.

I think most assume because they have watched Dobbs be so successful under this offense as a Dual-threat and JG is the first true DT we have had in a long time... and he passes better than Dobbs. Dormady is NO dual-threat....

BTW, mentioned this a while ago------------ No reason JJ cannot be used like Adoree Jackson at USC and play both ways... He doesn't have to be in every series, just use him on offense and work him in and out on D when needed...

Hype train gettin' fueled up early for 2017. Pre-season spring championship rankings are out, and UT is a unanimous number 1!
Go back home and help horse-teeth scrounge around the big 10 and big 12 for a 5th year graduate transfer QB. I do hope you get ex-Baylor Stidham to help your no show offense next year to make the azz-whipping you gonna take more interesting ! GO VOLS !!!!!

I know you are calling this a loaded lineup, but didn't we see all these guys get run out of the building this year? I don't get what you are basing your statement on? I'd say a lot of busts in that list at least based on performance to date with the exception of a few players.

Would be the best roster change this program has seen in the last 25-30 years.

Why would we move arguably one of our best WR to Safety?

If I were Jennings I would tell this coaching staff to kick rocks if they tried making me move position, again.

Someone who is fast, tall and can catch the ball????

If we don't need him at wide out and we have a gaping hole at safety shouldn't they at least consider it?

Why would we take our best player from WR and put him somewhere else? That has not been answered yet.

I get what you're saying but if these coaches are having to rob peter to pay paul then we are in trouble.

Let Jennings continue to thrive at the position he is. He was one of the few bright spots for us this year.

Why put Jennings back there when you have a free backup QB you can start at FS anyways?

Tyler Byrd and Juan Jennings both at DBs and Todd Kelly at OLB ? Also Alexis Johnson as DE
Man, you sound like Butch Jones ..

No sir.....those are the moves our DC used to make when we played like one of the top 5 defenses every season......

And they are very smart moves!

If we wanna be better than 5-7 he better be.

Dormady does not have the skillset to play behind this o-line. We will need a QB with mobility to make a defense respect the read option. Dormady wouldn't be able to do that.

Wrong as usual..but keep trying.

To the poster's point that you replied to.....

The staff can ask all they want, if i am Jennings i tell them to go to hell.

He will be drafted ar his current position. I wouldnt sacrifice that and see if i can go play a different position.

Screw that.

Gamble somebody else's future, but you aint doing that with mine unless you plan on writing me checks for the next 10 years

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought this would be Kendrick's final season. Or is that another RS JR?

IMO, Jennings is the next Steven Smith. A wideout who will whip the ass of any DB who tries to intimidate him. And with his good arm adding that dimension to any team who drafts him, the idea of moving him to defense is asinine.

If we had 2 of him? Fine. Move the OTHER one.

The roster is not the issue. It's player development. I didn't really see a new player that seriously improved, or one that broke out, and there were certainly candidates.

I should say, on the defensive side. Obviously Kelly and Malone had break out years.

Whats the deal with Dillon Bates ?? Does he sniff the field at all next year, or is he just that bad??

Except the moves will be made

I'm almost 100% sure the move you have Tyler Byrd going to CB is not going to happen. He's a playmaker & that speed can't be replaced.

He showed flashes of it this season. We're not loaded at WR so Byrd will stay right there & provide us with some electric stuff playing mostly slot but also line up outside some too.
