2017 Loaded! Starters by position.....

I'd be willing to be he does.

Dobbs is out and an unknown coming in at QB

Honestly it wasn't like Malone or any of our receivers were putting up big numbers with Dobb's at QB. I see passing yards and WR production increasing next year whether it's JG or Dormady.

Football Team 121 looks formidable
With all the doom and gloom forcasted after this season, I took a look at what team 121 might look like.

Next years potential starting line up with depth!

Offense
QB Dormady or Guarantano & Jones
RB Kelly & Fils-Aime hopefully Akers & Recruit Ty Chandler
WR Byrd, Jennings, Smith, Johnson or Callaway
TE Wolfe brothers recruit Brown
OL Robertson, Jones, Boulware, Hall, Kendrick, Thomas, Sanders, Richmond etc...Depth!

Defense
Kmac, Phillips, Tuttle, Picou, Butcher, Mixon, Vickers, Kongbo, Bain, Johnson, Moseley recruit Gaddy etc...
LB Berry, Bates, Jumper, Kirkland JR., Bituili, Sapp, McDowell, Bryant etc....
CB Buchanan, Abernathy, Osbourne, Gaulden, Martin, Moseley, Recruit Bailey etc...
Safety TK Jr., Griffen, Warrior Berry, Recruit Gray

K Medley
P Daniel

KR Berry
PR Byrd or Smith

team looks comparable and deep with a top 8 recruiting class coming in for more depth.

Only concern at this point is WR depth and DB depth

Thoughts VN?

Looks impressive, until you consider who's going to be at the helm of the "USS Unstoppable"...

CBJ is 14-18 SEC, 3-13 Top 25, 0-4 Bama, 1-3 UF, and 2-2 UGA, Mizzou, and Vandy.

I'm gonna hold off on those hotel reservations in Atlanta for now.

Go Vols.

Shhh the pumpers have an agenda

No way Tyler Byrd is not in there at WR. He's going to start at probably the slot most of the time. He will start ahead of Callaway for sure. Too fast & too skillful & dynamic.

Also, John Kelly will probably start with more experience but both Chandler & Fils-Aime will get carries as well. Chandler is just too good. He will probably end up being the RB with the most carries.

Fils-Aimes may choose to transfer. You just never know. We also have Trey Coleman if we do decide to keep him but if so probably a redshirt year as a freshman.

Tyler Byrd will be a Cornerback

Who says? In my opinion, no way he moves to CB. He stays on the offensive side of the ball. He's just too good & skillful at catching the ball & with that speed he can go all the way at any time. Won't happen in my opinion & I'm about 85%-90% confident in that.

I could see Jennings moving to safety though but I still believe he stays on offense at WR as well. He wasn't listed as a starter either I see. Josh Smith would be out for sure & as a backup along with Callaway.

J. G. is a fan favorite because he came to U.T. with a lot of fan fare but he is has yet to play. I think that Dormady will be the starter at the beginning of the season. IT will likely be approached the way that the Ainge/Schafer situation was handled.
Schafer started against UNLV. Ainge play a little each game until he took the job from Schafer. His playing time increased each game.
Dormady will be the starter against Georgia Tech. J.G. will play some. IF J.G. throws interceptions or can't read defenses, the Dormady will keep his job and by season's end J.G. will transfer.

Warrior makes a big difference for us next year at Safety. He had that wide eyed look most of this year when he was on the field, but he'll make an exponential leap in performance IMO. He has the speed. Bituli got a lot of valuable experience at LB. He has all the tools necessary and got valuable playing time, same for McDowell. Our LB situation could always use more depth but our 2 deep is solid there. Corner, I can see Byrd getting some snaps over there as well, but we're in trouble with our CBs unless they get it together. We have quality DEs who have speed if they can stay healthy. Barnett quality no, but SEC star quality? They have that talent. Im not as concerned for our D as I am our O. If Malone and Jennings are available, we'll be ok at WR.

Don't take this too seriously, it's just a guess

I actually see it completely opposite. JG is Butch's boy and prized QB committ. JG is as ideal of a QB as there is for this offense. Dobb's fit the system pretty well but nowhere close to what Guarantano brings to the position. JG runs just as well as Dobb's but has a much stronger and more accurate arm. Don't believe we will have the stretching the field and downfield accuracy issues we have had pretty much since Bray left. Not saying JG will be the best QB since Peyton but the tools and potential are definitely there. Not to mention Dobb's wasn't the vocal leader or get off in your a$$ if you screw up QB that most coach's want from their QB and from everything that's been said about JG he is a true vocal leader that other players respond to and rally for.As far as int's and turnovers go I don't think it could get much worse than what Josh produced this year. In 12 games he had 12 int's,10 fumbles and fortunately for him he only lost 4 of those. But from a SR QB that had played in 23 games prior to this year there is no excuse for some of the boneheaded risks he took and for that many combined int's and fumbles. That honestly is where a lack of a true QB Coach can hinder a QB's development. There is no excuse at all for Butch to have a GA as the QB Coach..he has pretty much any and every resource available to him and no upper level SEC school should have a graduate assistant as the QB Coach. That should never even be allowed I have no idea what goes through CBJ head when he makes stupid decisions like that.

Tyler Byrd will be a Cornerback

Don't ever see that happening unless we have a rash of CB injuries and there is no other options. I could see Jennings getting moved to safety before Byrd getting moved to CB.He just has too much speed and one of the very few HR type playmakers we have..He needs to be the permanent starter in the slot and going 4 wide with Malone,Byrd,Johnson and Callaway and that is if Jennings gets moved to safety. Which I think would be a great move for him and the whole team. He just has that mean streak and plays so physical that he would bea perfect fit at safety. He would have receivers thinking twice about going over the middle.

Talk about ridiculous... move 2 of our 3 best WR's to DB... move TK to LB... Alexis Johnson too big for DE... & starting an unproven RS Freshman at QB... Really hope you're not a coach... at any level. I've seen some really stupid stuff on here & this definitely ranks right up there.

Except the moves will be made

If he was safety in 2016, we would have had two more losses:

1. No Hail Mary catch vs. Georgia

2. No bobbled catch vs Florida that ended up being a TD and breathed life back in this teamthat day.

He may switch to safety, but he is a game-changer at WR.

Or those teams wouldn't have scored as many points because he would have been in secondary. Which means the plays you mentioned above wouldn't have needed to occur....

I've seen this movie before...

It doesn't end how you think it does, on paper.

Only if coaches are wanting to get fired. The Jennings move alone would get one fired. You don't move your most sure handed receiver to safety (for reference, go to early 1990's... see Carl Pickens... played both ways ultimately landed at WR, still considered one of the best ever to wear the orange & white!).

If, and a big IF, Jennings is moved to the S position on our D...Who will replace him and his production at his WR position that's proven?

IMO if Malone leaves early for the NFL that will be a HUGE mistake for him especially since most believe we'll have a much better passing QB for next season where his numbers could take a BIG jump and his draft stock after next season could also take a big jump.

Malone leaving early could lose him many $$$ Millons on his 1st NFL contract.

VFL...GBO!!!

Yeah well we we're pretty loaded this year and lost to vandy and South Carolina. Not getting my hopes too high for next year
Oh come on man this is UT! We're gonna win it all until someone shows us different. Nature of the hype-beast! GO VOLS......WTFA !
