2016 Transfer List:

Did some reading. It looks like he had some sort of psychotic break and spent time at a facility getting treatment. But that's all message board fodder.

I live near ASU. He was at mental health facility across street from football stadium when arrested
He got help and had a good season for a bad team.

It's not about Giddens being bad. We just won't have the room. At most we can take one more by my math. More than likely 7 returning, and 5 signed now. Giddens is option 3 at this point if we do have that one scholly to get #13.

Well please fill up so that Yurtseven isn't an option

Won't take Giddens but will take a guy who punched a cop in the throat. Seems legit. (Unless you are being sarcastic)

One HUGE difference

Taking a graduate transfer gets that spot back immediately for the 17 class which I expect to be good

Yes he would take a scholarship, but UK typically has room, they usually aren't fill and a walk on or two gets a scholarship.

Again, Giddens would give Cal Simone he knows he'll have in 17-18, a luxury he rarely gets, not saying they take him but I think it's definitely something Cal would consider.

Why give Sam Malone a scholarship and not Giddens, it's not like taking Giddens would lower your chances of landing Bolden or Allen.

This year is a little different. 7 to return:
Mulder
Matthews
Lee
Willis
Hawkins
Wyndyard
Humphries

2 possible to return:
Briscoe
Skal

4 gone:
Poythress - graduation
Murray - NBA
Ulis - NBA
Floreal - former walkon will return but not get a scholarship

My opinion is Skal will go and Briscoe will return. So with 5 coming in and 8 returning we already have 13. Calipari is pursuing Bolden and Jarrett Allen. He'll probably take one or the other if they are interested. That means I'm either wrong on Briscoe or someone unexpected to leave will. Just my two cents.

I thought 2017 is the year so why wouldn't we invest in it now instead signing grad transfers every year??

2017 class is when those kids are senior in hs.

Hopefully this is the last year we need to even consider graduate transfers but now we could Darn sure could rent a big for one year

I'm interested to watch it play out, Tennessee has inquired about a few guys (Elijah Minnie, Daniel Giddens, Dylan Osetkowski) and are still pursuing JUCO Emmitt Holt, but have yet to bring anyone to campus or schedule a visit.

Right now the roster is still full, the staff is obviously still pursuing Yurtseven, but his decision likely won't be known until June, so that's quite a ways out. Does the staff push for a guy from the list above because they can't afford to wait on Yurtseven? What happens if Yurtseven wants in come June, you "somehow" find room? Is there likely someone besides Kasongo who isn't being mentioned that may be looking to leave?

There's definitely some interesting dynamics at play, my thought is that nobody currently on the roster is looking to leave, but that someone is likely going to leave to make room. Another interesting aspect of this is that most graduate transfers want PT and a NCAAT, well our sell of a NCAAT goes up big time with Yurtseven, but the sales pitch of PT goes down?

Something else to keep in mind is I believe you get 13 OV's to use a year, by my count Tennessee has used 8 official visits and likely 9 if Bowden does come in at some point. Obviously they'll hold one for Yurtseven, so that only leaves 3 left to use, there's been talk they're looking to bring Holt in, so you'd have to imagine they'll get pretty picky on who gets OV's the next month or two.

Lots of moving parts going on, interested to see how it all shakes out.

Good post BTO

Sounds like you think all our guys are planning to come back. If that's the case I think it's incredibly bs that Barnes hasn't told whomever they are out. That player or players should have an opportunity to look around now

I just don't see who would leave beside Kasongo, unless if it was Hubbs maybe? I wonder if he could be a grad transfer because I can't see him leaving and sitting out a year or moving down to d2, that doesn't make sense to me. I don't see any of this years freshman leaving they were a bright spot for the team at different times of the year and all 3 showed some potential. This could be Mostella's team this year, so I don't see him leaving either. It will be interesting for sure.

That's the dirty nature of CBB, maybe the discussion has taken place, and maybe that players handler which he definitely has has already reached out to schools to gauge potential interest.

Rob Lewis was asked that about Hubbs and said he was told he's not close, so that would rule that out. Hubbs also was pretty vocal about this being his team next year so I don't think it's him.

I do wonder with Bowden not OV'ing yet if it's possible that discussion has been had with he and his family, maybe that's why they came and visited with Barnes on campus without Jordan at one point? I know it's unlikely, but to me that seems more likely than running off a guy with 2-3 years of eligibility left AND potential, for a one and done guy.

If that's the case **** happens. Players up and leave all the time after coaches invest years into them, with little notice at times. It's a two-way street. I'm sure he is going to sit down with every player and tell them where they stand and what he thinks their role will be. I'm sure he'll advise them and tell them what would be best for them and the team. If a player isn't going to get many minutes the next year it might be in their best interest to look around for better options.
