My FB feed is blowing up with positive reactions to this Romney speech. Rs, Ds, and independents. Seems like VN doesn't care for it as much?

Romney and McCain should be the last ones the GOP rushes out there to condemn Trump with them being losers and running god awful campaigns. I can kinda forgive McCain because no Republican would have won in 2008 but Romney has no excuses on his loss.

I haven't watched the Romney speech not sure I will but he is the last one to be bashing Trump. He is probably the person most responsible for Trump's rise to fame. Had he beaten Obama in 2012 we wouldn't even be talking about Donald Trump being the front-runner of the Republican field.

yeah... plus the republican congress who hasn't done anything.

Mine is blowing up just the other way. Romney did a great imitation of Harry Reid and looked like a fool. Senator Corker here in TN seems to be a little smarter about it:

Corker warns against GOP efforts to stop Trump

"Here's my message to the Republican party leaders," Corker said in a statement. "Focus more on listening to the American people and less on trying to stifle their voice."

The content of Romney's speech was fine - most of it irrefutable IMO. If this is the direction people want the party to take, fine, but don't expect it to happen without a fight.

It does seem very petty that he would go after Trump with much more passion than he ever did Obama in 2012, and also after he had buddied up to Trump for his support around the same time.

He's smart on getting ahead of the curve. Looks like he realizes that the next shoe that may drop could be on top of the heads of the house and senate. Creating distance without backing Trump, smart.

Maybe he learned his lesson.

I don't like Romney, but I take him much more seriously then I do the 3 stooges leading the R race right now.

Romney needs to shut his word hole. His time has come and gone and he brought nothing to the table. Couldn't even muster the balls to fight hard to win in 2012 against the weakest of incumbents. Now he is coming out to piss on the Trump parade because it's not one of the guys selected by the donors.

It just strikes me as really disingenuous given his own words when Trump endorsed him in 2012. I don't disagree with some of what he says, but this is sour grapes and really not his battle to fight.

Why didn't he throw his support behind another candidate? This was a low blow, a Trump smear. A whole lot of butt hurt from Preubus and the gang.

What prevents your argument from being made about banning anything else (guns, alcohol, seat belt laws)?

People being stupid isn't a valid reason to limit the freedoms of everyone. People kill themselves with guns. Maybe people killing themselves is ok with you?

Are you living in some fantasy land where people don't OD on prescription drugs all the time? Just like banning guns won't limit gun violence, the same can be said for banning drugs.
All the time. People OD all the time.

Did you know WalMart sells caskets online? Whodathunk.

Prescription drugs aren't banned. Drugs are dangerous. ALL drugs are poison. All of them. Your argument is absurd but if it were to come to pass, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see an uptick in OD deaths because of ignorance and outright stupidity. And of course the ensuing lawsuits filed by Clearwater, LG and the rest of their buddies that would want to then "protect us". Much much better idea to just have a free for all when it comes to drugs.

I'm not going to continue wasting my time after this post, but know that I consider you to be just as sad as people like LG who would say sarcastically "yeah, a free for all on guns! That's a great idea!"

This is how I feel about it.

Maybe he cares about America and thinks Trump is bad for America, like most people with a brain.

It's a weird attitude to think he shouldn't speak his mind because he lost an election and/or because Trump supported him. So what? Lots of douchebags supported Romney. Doesn't mean they deserve his support and it doesn't mean he shouldn't speak out against their terrible ideas.

It's all about the timing. If he feels so strongly about Trump he should have spoken out months ago or at least prior to the IA caucuses.

Hindsight is 20/20. Months ago I was thinking Trump didn't have a chance in hell, so why burn a bridge with the guy when you are both big business players?

Sure he should speak his mind.

However, he's contradicting himself on Trump and if he is so bad he shouldn't have sought his support.

Why didn't he denounce Trump in 2012 - oh that's right he wanted something from him.

Romney was butt hurt about Reid's tax ploy (rightly so) but he turns around and uses the exact same tactic?

So yes he has a right to speak his mind but he sure looks like a hypocrite doing it.

This is just absurd. If we don't think like you we are dumb?

I think people with brains recognize that people can differ on political views without that difference being an indication of intelligence.
