2016 Election

You may disagree with the way the democrats try to address concerns, but I don't know how you can claim that they simply don't try. That's what most people dislike about the democrats, they try to solve everything through government.

That's the liberal way, judge us on our intentions, not our actions. 😜

Hpw can the GOP claim that it is a party of principle when it's leading candidate currently holds several positions which are not at all in keeping with the right, and has flip flopped on key issues at other times? Bewildering.

For that same reason the DNC claims to be the party of the people and does little more than use them for votes before ignoring their concerns until the next election.

Those are good examples of why it is time for a 3rd party movement in the USA. The Republicans and the Democrats care about 2 things.
1. Raising money
2. Winning elections

Trump is not about raising money. In fact, almost all of the money in his campaign is his own, and he's not financially connected to the party in any traditional way.

And as to winning, you may or disagree with me or his positions, but it seems apparent to me that the reason he is running is pure ego driven.

How can I claim they just don't?

Because they don't. Both parties are real good at whipping up the base around election times and then ignoring the platform they were elected on until the next go round.

I like you Gramps, but that's not limited to just those two parties. Every political party is guilty of that to include our esteemed Libertarian brothers and sisters.

Either a 3rd party or cut the money out of politics. (Which would be very hard but progress could be made.) And that's not a partisan issue, either. Both sides abuse their duties in order to line their wallets.

That's in large part because any real change is so hard to achieve. Trump is used to barking out an order as the boss and it simply happens. I wonder what he'd do if he yelled out "build the wall!" and it took 14 years.

He's teased a Presidential run since 2008-ish, right? And then backed out at the last minute? He's definitely all about ego.

So you're saying government by nature is inefficient?

And yet your party stands on more government to solve everything?

It is maddeningly inefficient, but it is also in some sense built to move slowly. I'm not sure Trump can deal with that. I'm not sure he even understands it.

I'm on mobile right now, but I'll certainly retort to this in depth when I get to the office.

The dems and Repubs work together to keep another party from rising to power.

The debates are an example. They do all they can to keep any other party from being represented on the debate stage.

Holding office is a gold mine to the two parties. It is all about the money. The R's and D's have the pie divided nicely. Neither side wants a third party getting a piece of the pie.

Ross Perot was the most successful third party candidate on a national stage. Gramps, what gave him the ability the circumvent the system?

****load of greenbacks

Wealth was a factor, no doubt. He also found loads of free publicity with Larry King. I think that was a huge boost to him. I wondered if Gramps remembers the situation with Perot differently.

He had a clear vision and wasn't whining all the time about not getting a fair shake. Then of course he went nuts.
