2016 Election

Honestly, the only hope seems to be that the candidates not named Trump can cobble enough delegates together to prevent him from winning outright. Cruz winning TX would be huge, and Rubio should run 2nd in most primaries. OH is winner-take-all, and a Kasich win there would be enormous.

Even then the GOP loses. Both the general and their party as it exists today (good thing).

Let's not overlook that the Democrats are running the former wife of a philandering president and an avowed socialist. One of Obama's legacy will be destroying the trajectory of the Dems. Going to be interesting times after this election!

What about Rubio? Is he projected to win his home state of Florida?

Not at the moment, but I'm saying the numbers are skewed. A race with five people (four really) going into Super Tuesday is almost unheard of.

Let's just say Rubio was to drop. Where do his voters go? Very like Kasich. Maybe Cruz.

Certainly the same could be said of Kasich. His supporters would likely flow to Rubio.

Cruz is the wild card. His voters could go to Trump, Rubio or Kasich. I think since the bromance between Trump and Cruz fell through they would likely head to Rubio or Kasich.

I'm saying take two of the three out of the equation and you see Cruz, Rubio or Kasich take States where Trump is currently leading.

What I find fascinating is that professed conservatives are all aboard the Trump train and no evidence exists that he would govern as a conservative. Without throwing rocks at other candidates, what would your response be? I'm genuinely curious about your thoughts.

He is a fighter. You can see it in the press conferences he does by the way he commands the room. He is not going to tolerate any nonsense. Plus he wont allow dumb regulation from random bureaucracy. These guys in DC have lived in a bubble for too long and I think it's time for a reality check with an outside candidate

I agree. If it were trump versus one of those three I believe it would be a much different race.

Hillary Clinton is essentially just more of the same that we've had since FDR, which is why I always scratch my head when people go on rants about how she and Obama are trying to fundamentally change America.

Trump's presidency would largely be tempered by Congress and the Court, but the thing that worries me most about a Trump presidency is his foreign policy, which Congress would have relatively little authority to curtail, outside of a declaration of war. I think a Trump presidency would be an absolute disaster for American international status, despite his statements about how we shouldn't get involved in the Middle East. He will alienate so many nations - allies, potential allies, and adversaries alike - that you could probably kiss our privileged world status goodbye.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I also don't think he could do any worse than Obama and the previous SOS in that regard.

The problem being two of the three will have to drop. And endorse the remaining candidate.

Carson leaving is a foregone conclusion. And I'm not sure if his endorsement would carry that much weight.

I want the GOP to change, but not toward nationalism. I do think it's more of a cult of personality centered around the Donald than anything else (just like Perot), and even if Trump is the catalyst for a 3rd party it will eventually be cannibalized as it is rendered non-competitive.

I realize that no one will perfectly represent most people's views, but these options are absolutely terrible.

Good luck convincing any of these guys to drop at this point. They're stubborn to the end, and believe Trump will crumble at any second and they'll rush in to take the scraps.

I'm done with the GOP. Have been since 2012. They will never see another cent of my money. I think they should merge with the democrats and be done with it. For example, I wouldn't whiz on Boehner or McConnel if they were in fire in the middle of Pennsylvania Ave. Charlatans.

OK so all very vague. No offense, but this doesn't indicate anything about how he would govern. This feels like a Republican Obama campaign.

I think change is inevitable at this point, for both parties. Hopefully for the good.

I feel like most Americans want a greater buffet of options, but the two parties have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo of the current system. So we'll keep getting more of the same.

The GOP is wedded to big government at this point, and why wouldn't they be? Most people seem to be OK with it.

I agree that the GOP is undergoing a revolt which will lead to better things. If Trump wins he either does what he says he will do, or he faces an even bigger revolt in 2020. If the party nudges him out before this election, they will definitely lose.
Either way, the party changes because he will not do what the establishment wants. The Republicans had the same struggle from 1964 until 1980.

Would you add Paul Ryan to that list?..... I would...

Trump is riding high because he's not been PC and has said a lot of things people wanted to hear a politician say.....and he's a businessman.

Like he could do more damage than BHO....
