From my understanding, 90 percent of all abortions are done within the first trimester. The vast majority of the rest take part early in the second trimester. Less than a percent would be considered late term. I can get behind late term bans barring danger to the mother or some extreme circumstance- the cases are already rare enough as it is. Second trimester entirely? I'm not sure.
Just thought I'd share the numbers. I think a lot of people often fall for the scare campaigns and pictures of dead fetuses from late term abortions and think that's happening all the time everywhere when it's actually not common at all.
Thanks for the numbers Percy. I thought they were somewhere in that range but wasn't able to look them up. Personally I would be in favor of a tighter limit, but that's why I thought this might be a reasonable position for both parties.
