IMO, yay, you answered the question. You could be right. Fun game, huh? Is day 1 the Chattanooga game? This is why you annoy people, you try to say things definitively such as above...you could've easily said in my opinion I think and then said it, instead you try to pass it as a fact.
In my opinion there is little chance Evans is starting day 1, I could see the other 4 as starters though. I personally will say Turner, Mostella, Hubbs, Schofield, Williams.
It amazes me how many are afraid to name five players who will take the floor in the first game in their opinion. Looks like some have stepped up. I'm also surprised to see so many think Barnes struck out on Evans. Seems like I am the only one besides sport3500 who has him starting. From what I am gathering he is too slow to play defense. How was that overlooked when recruiting him? I say he starts because we need experience in the lineup and he has more than anybody.
Simple explanation. No one wants to dive into a nonsensical "discussion" with you. Take a hint dude.It amazes me how many are afraid to name five players who will take the floor in the first game in their opinion. Looks like some have stepped up. Turner
Mostella
Hubbs
Schofield
Alexander
My original assessment.
BUT.IF Hubbs lives up to the latest hype and plays to his potential, shoots the 3 at a high percentage and rebounds on the O glass, I'd add 2 to 3 more wins, at least.
Better D than last season and actually being able to play 'Wear U Out' basketball, I'm hopeful for an NIT run.
Also more encouraged by news about the PG situation and possible 2 lead guard system.
I'm leaning to a bit more Iffy.

KenPom has the Vols going 13-16(7-11), but doesn't account for the other 2 games in Maui which you'd imagine would be 1-1, so 14-17(7-11). Also has Vols finishing 10th in the SEC, ahead of Auburn/Mississippi State/ Missouri and LSU.
Has Vols winning: Chattanooga, App State, Georgia Tech, Presbyterian, TTU, Lipscomb and ETSU out of conference. In league play: South Carolina, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Missouri, Vandy and Alabama. Games he has as losses but gives us a 40% chance or better to win: Arkansas at home, Kansas State at home, Auburn away and Georgia at home.
I think I've already said it, but if not, I watched Chattanooga and ETSU play twice last year including the SouCon championship game. Chatt returns five senior starters at one time or another and ETSU has six seniors and will be much better than last year. They'll give Chattanooga a run for the money.
My prediction is that UT will beat neither and Mississippi State will be in the upper tier of the SEC. ETSU plays them the week before they play Tennessee in Starkville.
Just on a side note, I was at Bluenanza in JC tonight. Saw several skywalkers in the slam dunk exhibition but the highlight was at the end of the showcase two students picked two Buc players to shoot one mid court shot for free tuition for those students. They made them both. Double pandemonium.
Bold above. No way ETSU will be better than last season. They lost Gwynn who had transferred from Cincy. He carried this team most of the time last season. He's gone.
They do have some other good players returning but I don't think they'll be better. They do have both an inside & outside game though. Not one dimensional.
Banks & Jurkin are back in the frontcourt. Bradford & Cromier along with Merrieweather will also be back in the backcourt.
They're still going to be good but not as good as last season in my opinion. I will say I haven't paid much attention as to who they have signed except for one 3* player. They should be in the top 3 in the South. Conf.
I watched them play 3 games last season living about 20-25 minutes away from the Bucs dome so I got a good handle on what type of team they should have with what they have coming back. Thanks!

And I watched three times that many games. Very uninformed post. TJ Cromer, first team All SouCon returns at guard. He is joined by 1st team NJCAA All-American and the Region 13 Player of the Year last season, Julian Walters, averaging 18.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game; and also, Devontvius Payne, second team Juco All-American last season for John A. Logan College, ranking 11th in the country in scoring with 21.6 points per game was the Region 24 Player of the Year. These two are more than adequate replacements for Guyn, not to mention Desonte Bradford who also returns. Battle Royale for guard spots in addition to the posts. This team is loaded.
Lindy's Sports: "Forbes hit the junior college circuit hard, signing four players who are expected to contribute right away. The Bucs have more than enough firepower to overtake the Mocs if they continue to step it up on the defensive end."
Was at Bluenanza last night where two players, Devontavius Payne and TJ Cromer, made national news hitting two mid court shots winning free tuition for two students.

Are we playing ETSU or a JUCO team? Do they not recruit kids out of high school? According to 247 2016 recruiting rankings ETSU came in at 151 with 1 commit and it doesn't show the stars because the kid was below a 3 star. Forbes is a great coach but looks like he is struggling to establish a high school recruiting pipeline.
Forbes has 6 seniors, 6 juniors, and 1 freshman on his roster. 4 of those were there when he arrived. Actually as pdogg says he is recruiting to win early. Using that same philosophy last year, ETSU finished 2nd in SouCon in regular season and tournament at 24-13. He has recruited well enough to improve on that this year. He's not struggling on high school, he is recruiting lights out on jucos and transfers to win.Are we playing ETSU or a JUCO team? Do they not recruit kids out of high school?
