They are copying them. If you don't want to be our little step-brother on the football field, why would you copy one of our most recognizable traditions?

You can do it. It doesn't piss me off. I actually like that they are doing it because it's so lame.

I mean personally I don't care either way. UK knows it's place. They know it's hard to compete against one of the better programs. At least they didn't suggest it and back off because they realize it's copying someone like UT. I like the move actually, saying to others they don't care about what other schools might be doing. UT fans can laugh, but it looks fine imo. That's what most of the regular fans care about, not worrying about stepping on the toes of others.

I bet if you asked the FF, they'll have a field day with stuff like this.

I don't really care either way, I get them trying to do something to pump the fan base. If I'm a UK fan I would prefer something more original, than biting something a "rival" does. As a UT fan I think its cute and funny.

Who cares what the FF says, they are complete idiots.

Contrary to what most Vol fans believe, we didn't invent the checkerboard pattern. O&W cheggars are iconic, but it doesn't mean checkerboard isn't allowed anywhere else in college sports.

I was aware we didn't invent it, but it is ours, for all intents and purposes. Walter White didn't invent the Pork Pie hat, but it's his now.

I guarantee you nobody but Vol fans think that.

It's such a basic pattern. To try to lay claim to it universally is dumb.

You'd be surprised. I live out west and people have commented on the endzone several times. UCLA fans I sat with at the Rose Bowl were talking about how cool it is.
