2015 NBA Finals Thread

I'm not exactly an admirer of LeBron, but as someone who watched Jordan's whole career, it seems incredible how James can drive the basket, get hacked across both arms, and not get it called more than once in the same game. Jordan might have had one call per series like that go against him, at most -- at which point he'd wave his arms around and show up the ref just like James does now. All I can figure is that LeBron is so big and strong that the refs are subconsciously penalizing him and ignoring the contact he takes.

It will be interesting to see if we get to do two straight days in sports media on how badly Curry shot like we would if it had been LeBron.

Nobody in recent memory that I can remember gets a bigger pass than Steph Curry. So I imagine everyone will say he just had a bad game and sometimes shooters get cold and this is no big deal even though he shot horribly, made bad decisions all night, and got straight up abused on defense.

Lol I defend the SOB too much to hate him. If you could see my texts, you would hate the Cavs. Its some Alabama type ish going on. Good thing the owner loves me, cause I would be fired.

South Carolina fans magically turned into intolerable jackasses about fifteen minutes after Steve Spurrier was hired. It's just the nature of modern sports fanhood, where everybody's got a megaphone. If UT wins 9 games this fall our fans will be dicks too.

Definitely.

I would lean KD, but he still gets a decent amount of criticism for not being aggressive enough and before his D.

Curry (by not only the media but fans too) gets a bigger pass. I don't know if it's because he's nice or because he's not supposed to be here or what but it's funny how everyone *****es about Harden's defense when Steph is worse.

But I'll be part of said dicks!!!!!!!

My teams tend to suck the ass and get pooed on by the dicks. Look under my name and see for yourself.

Depends how you look at it.

Curry guards point guards and the NBA is pretty stacked with good point guards.

Harden guards shooting guards and that's probably the least quality position in the league which means on average he should be guarding worse people. That's not to say he doesn't ever run the point and guard point guards at times. I actually don't know as I don't follow the Rockets closely. I felt Howard and Smith's poor free throw shooting was always going to chuck them out of the playoffs so I didn't pay much attention . I'm actually surprised they beat the Clippers.

I root for a bunch of loser teams too. But at least I'm willing to just admit that they're not that good, instead of hating every other team who is.

I've been the one saying I had a funny feeling about this cavs team. But they needed 2 overtimes to get 1 win. They had no business coming close to ot tonight. Curry's gonna get hot. Lebron wants this, but if the Cavs get thumped hard, I don't know if the rest of the team will care anymore.

I'm not sure I follow. They just took the best team in the NBA to OT twice at their place, and won once, all with James carrying the team. Before Thursday, if you had said the Cavs did that, there would have been quite a few on here that would have called you crazy.

That's just quite a strange reaction after the Cavs had a great performance in Oakland against a team that doesn't lose at home.

This would be kind of true if Curry actually guarded point guards. The Warriors have always Curry on the weaker offensive player. They had not been doing this year but Kerr has been doing this in the playoffs.

But I don't hate every other team that is good...

I don't hate Warriors. I didn't hate the Mavs. I didn't hate the Thunder. I didn't hate the Spurs.

What's so bad about having teams you don't like and teams you have nothing against? For me, it would be utterly pointless to watch a game if I had no interest in who was going to win and or lose. If I'm only going to pull for one team in every sport, I just pull for the teams I dislike the least if my team is irrelevant.

People can look at it however they want but in no way do I hate teams just because they're good. I hate teams that have horrible fan bases and I don't want them running their mouth even more than they already do. I prefer the smaller city folk get the prize. What can I say, I choose my fellow middle class over the government. Who roots for the government? :p

I'll take you word on it. I guess I'm not always paying attention to who is guarding who. I was just assuming pg on pg and sg on sg.

I assume Curry gets a pass because he's relatively new. Durant's eight years into his career and it's only just now that the media is starting to get disgruntled enough to begin questioning him.

But really, the upshot is that just about every NBA superstar gets a pass. LeBron is the first one since Kareem who hasn't.

I agree with this post.

Well, to be fair... hating me would be as easy as jumping on the Lebron bandwagon. If you notice, people here give each other likes every time something demeaning is said about me. Hating me is the cool thing to do. You should join in, it's okay.

But Harden doesn't get a pass. I mean yeah NBA superstars get a pass except for about 2-3 but with Curry it's completely different. He almost never gets criticized by anyone.

NBA is a monarchy and TOP hates the King.

If he weren't 2-3 in the finals, and didn't lose out to Rose, Durant, Curry and Harden for the MVP, I'd be inclined to agree with you.

I've never in my life said the guy isn't insanely good. Never even said he's not the best player in the league. Though, given his age I'd start looking to build around someone like Anthony Davis instead given the option but that's besides the point.

I'm just not a fan of Lebron and his cult following. It is what it is. I originally bought his jersey immediately after he was drafted, I even wore a green notre dame hat that had a gold clover leaf(didn't say notre dame anywhere on the hat) because Lebron played for the Irish in high school while wearing green and gold. It's funny because I was a Lebron fan before some people today were. I just happened to change my mind. I didn't care when he was playing on a rival team within the Pacers division, I liked him coming out of high school as I'm the same age as he is.

Well they are UK fans, so they were born this way.

Lebron isn't on Michael's level, and I don't think any reasonable person would put him there. Now does he have a shot to eventually pass him? Yes. People who say they hate Lebron "because Lebron fans are the worst and think he is the GOAT" are really just finding excuses to hate the guy. No need to just flat out lie about it.
