LOL man, I am glad I pulled you out of the ignore pile. Once again Pa's Trick putting words in Vol fans mouth.
And which player has CCM cut, by the way?
You must not read much because about half of this thread is discussing the necessity to cut one or two players in the roster to make room for the pg who recently committed and to make room for Mathieu if he is offered and accepts.
Plot thickens.
@BFQuinn: RT @prepxtra: I have two texts from Dre Mathieu himself that refute this report RT @TNSportsRadio ...http://t.co/P1Ztti4SSB
And there is a big difference between going to a player and telling them they probably arent going to be seeing much PT, with the new guys coming in and a coach pulling a scholly. The fact is he hasnt cut anybody. Not sure what folks were posting when CCM was hired, but its purely argumentative to call Vol fans hypocrites for saying CCM was a stand up guy, who doesnt sign players just to sign them. He is only on his second recruiting class here, and so far everyone he has brough in is still in.
Tony B is a clown, as he likes to call other people. Let me guess he prolly got this info from that X guy that he thinks knows everything.
I seem to recall that when CCM was hired many posters in the bball forum talked about how CCM was a stand up guy who did not sign guys then later cut them and that he wanted 4 year players. Those posters also criticized CBP for doing the same thing.
Now when it appears that CCM may do the same thing, it is suddenly okay. Not to mention all the posters who have been slamming Cal for probably having to cut a number of players.
I suppose that it is much easier to criticize other coaches or programs for these types of actions but it is hypocritical to turn right around and say that the same action is "best for the program" when done by CCM.
It's a dirty business but a coach should never be blamed for improving his roster. The fat has to be cut somehow. If someone didn't get mad at Pearl for cutting a scrub like Marques Johnson then they should extend the same courtesy to Martin.
I do not disagree with the premise of making your roster better by "releasing players"! I was just stating that it was hypocritical for people to hammer Cal for doing when it appears that CCM will be doing the same thing. And also pointed out that when CCM was hired, many posters said that he did not things like that as one of his strong points.

Kinda fun reading through this thread with the conflicting reports from Basilio and Smithey. I have never seen Mathieu play, but would even be an upgrade over Brandon Lopez? They are both about 5' 9'", put up similar numbers in high school, and both were first-team All-KIL. One walked on at Morehead, the other at UT. One has has a year of low to mid major coaching and a year at JUCO. The other has two yrs of SEC coaching going up daily against Tre Golden. Mathieu did get lots of playing time this yr and his team went 30-5 making the quarterfinals of the national JUCO tournament. I was just wondering what those that have seen Mathieu play, think he brings to the table and would those skills be worth losing someone already on scholarship since his resume doesn't look much better than one of our walk-ons.
True, but Mathieu didn't have those kind of offers out of high school either if you are comparing to Lopez's high school offers. Remeber, he walked on at Morehead. The offer from UCLA was from Howland, who is no longer there. Washington State won 4 games in the Pac-12. Ole Miss has proven to be legit and has some holes to fill. Who knows what kind of offers Lopez might get at this point if he were available? He has proven he can put in some quality minutes in SEC play. Mathieu may be ready for prime time, but I still am not sure that it is an upgrade over Lopez.
