no it does not - we really need Vereen to be a stud and to land a few more LB's that can run this year

Just a thought. Isn't CBJ over-recruiting DBs? He appears to be recruiting for speed. I heard somewhere that he was willing to accept the idea of smaller, faster LBs. Doesn't it follow that he intends to convert a few extra DBs to LBs?

I hear you, but other than Brent Brewer and maybe JRM, I don't see how that's going to be possible.

Brewer is not athletic enough to play S, so he would be a logical move.

Does the news of Taylor, Philips, and Bonner not coming back affect the number of available recruits we can take?

Glad to see a few spots open up on the roster so Butch can get a few more of his guys in this year. I think we have a great shot at North since CP is leaving along with Hunter. As much as I would like a few more offensive weapons, I'm more concerned about building a stellar D. Obviously Dooley didn't know how to develop talent. The morale was suffocated. CBJ is Reviving Big Orange Nation, and it's going to taste sweet when we rise back up!

How is it that we already had room for 27 when we have 64 scholarship players and we can only have 85? I believe that is 21 spots. We will have to cut a few more to allow us to sign 27.

the extra schollies were if we could back count by using early enrollees. We only had 23 in the class of 2012 (including Omari Phillips). 4 have since been no longer a part of the class. Phillips, Bonner, Taylor and Borque. So that leaves us at 19 for last year's class. We can back count 6 EE's which would allow us to sign 27 if we back count 6 EE's. You also have to look at the number of December Grads from football. And that opens up schollies as well.

What I am confused about is that OCI already had the number 27 up there before Phillips, Bonner and Taylor had left; we now have 3 more slots, but our scholarship allotment did not change.

27 is the max we can sign no matter what happens. The whole team could leave and we would still be restricted to the 25 limit plus 2 backcounts. Now in order to actually sign 27 we are going to have to get down to 58 scholarship players to stay under 85 total scholarships. So the three that left help us get closer to 58. Also, just because a player leaves does not mean you can backcount into their spot, you can only backcount the number that never signed in the first place.

I don't see what's hard to understand. You are limited to 85 total scholarship players. You are limited to a 25 class limit. The only number that fluctuates year-to-year is the amount we can backcount. Last, EE's can complicate things, but they just count against the 85.

The only thing that makes it complicated is the rolling backcount.

I'm sure we'll have at least 4 transfers, if not we can always gray shirt a kid.
