2012 LB Nick Dawson

"My top five now is Louisville, Clemson, Tennessee, Miami and UNC,"

"Louisville is showing more attention," Dawson said. "It's just the amount of love I've gotten from them in the past month."

Clemson's classes always seem lopsided. They'll get 4 or 5 top 100 players but the rest of their class is very average or below. That's where the great recruiting illusion comes from.

Exactly. They often get game changing type recruits (spiller, bowers, the lb's and rb's last year) but it seems the rest of their team takes a big step backwards.

Dawson looks the part of a big-time linebacker and he moves very well. His lateral movement in drills and his ability to chase things down was evident and in skeleton and one-on-ones he closed well, read the quarterback well in his drops and showed solid ball skills. He took home the Linebacker MVP award for his efforts and made it clear why so many schools covet him because he can be a middle or sam linebacker with his range and size.

"Illinois just jumped in the process about a month ago, but I like them a lot," said Dawson. "They don't have a ton of linebackers right now, so that's something I'll consider. I don't have a visit set up yet, but I'd like to go check out the campus life and how everything works up there. I'm in the process of narrowing down my choices, and Illinois has a good chance of making my list."

Named a top 5 of Louisville, Clemson, Tennessee, Miami, & UNC will visit all 5 during the season.

Hopefully he like early PT because Clemson can't offer that with the LB haul they had from last class.

Good players don't shy from competition, regardless of another's star rating or hype.

"they really need me down there," dawson said. "they want me to get down there on the visit. The scholarship is waiting on me. They need linebackers and i know i could play early at tennessee."

playing early is a big part of dawson's recruitment and he says that he takes notice of the depth chart at each school.

"it's very important," dawson said. "that's what i want to do. It's going to take hard work and playing with a good positive attitude. They got the numbers so it's possible for me to go in and play right away."

There is your answer from what JMo posted back in April. Sounds like PT is very important. :good!:

I have always said that early PT is very important to these guys. These guys are very competitive they don't want to sit on the bench for a couple of years they want on that field as soon as they can.

Not so sure that I would a kid if he didn't at least express that he wants early PT. Even if that position had dept. If your competitive at all you want to see the field as early as he can.
