How many people are we still looking to add for the 2011 class? Originally I thought we are looking for two big men. I have also heard we are looking so strong in 2012, we may only take 3 in 2011. In the newest rankings from Maxpreps we see how depressingly well UK has recruited for 2011.
Updated Class of 2011 Basketball Top 100 - MaxPreps News
They have
1. Michael Gilchrist
St. Patrick (Elizabeth, NJ) SF, PF 6-7/190 Kentucky
Wins and produces with every team he plays for, including gold medal with United States at FIBA U17 World Championship in Germany over the summer.
6. Anthony Davis
Perspectives-IIT Math & Science/Joslin (Chicago, IL) SF, PF 6-9/185 Kentucky
Biggest surprise of the summer didn't hold a single scholarship offer in April.
9. Marquis Teague
Pike (Indianapolis, IN) PG 6-1/170 Kentucky
Teague's summer circuit exploits outweigh his success at Pike, but he was an Associated Press high honorable mention All-State selection after tacking up 18.3 points and 5.1 assists as a junior.
while we have
37. Chris Jones
Oak Ridge Military Academy (Oak Ridge, NC) PG 5-9/165 Tennessee
Relocating to Oak Ridge after helping Memphis Melrose capture Tennessee's Class AAA state title as a junior.
and
69. Kevin Ware
Rockdale County (Conyers, GA) SG, SF 6-4/180 Tennessee
Still hasn't become a dominant high school player but was very solid in posting 14.9 points per game for 28-2 Rockdale County in 2009-10.
It is interesting to note that Pelphrey has managed to snag two top 100 players for 2011.
Has anyone heard any updates on our top post guys we are pursuing? I know it is a long shot but I hope we can get at least 1 of the following:
3. Adonis Thomas
Melrose (Memphis, TN) SF 6-6/210
Powerfully-built wing will look to lead Melrose to second Class AAA state title in a row after playing a big part in USA's gold-medal effort at July's FIBA U17 World Championship in Germany
21. Johnny O'Bryant
East Side (Cleveland, MS) PF, C 6-9/240
Intimidating paint presence averaged 15.0 points and 12.4 rebounds per game as a junior, earned gold medal with U17 World Championship team.
22. Trevor Lacey
Butler (Huntsville, AL) SG 6-4/190
Alabama's Class 5A Player of the Year does it all for Butler, averaging 22.6 points per game to go along with 7.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists as a junior.
26. Rodney Hood
Meridian (MS) SF 6-8/190
Tall wing player has developed a smooth-looking jumper and can put the ball on the floor and go by defenders.
27. Julian Royal
Milton (Alpharetta, GA) PF 6-8/210
Earned first team All-State AAAAA honors and North Fulton County Player of the Year after leading Milton to a state championship as a junior.
28. Michael Chandler
Lawrence North (Indianapolis, IN) C 6-10/220
Averaged 17.9 points and double-digit rebounds each time out for storied Indianapolis program in 2009-10.
Julian Royal's teammate at Milton is rated 23rd and is headed to Ohio State. I believe Julian has not played for the AAU celtics, but Pearl has done very well in the Atlanta area and it would be an easy drive for his parents to come see him play.
Anyone have any updates?
