2008 Titans

The Steelers gave up a league leading 47 sacks last season, so they might be a little improved in that department.

What I think the Steelers biggest problem is that they're beaten up physically & mentally after a hellacious schedule

the schedule has been no picnic and to have the record they do have against it is pretty remarkable to be honest.

but their issues are real. the pass protection has been an issue in almost every game.

I'd say that is 50% O-line 50% Ben. He holds the ball too long, your receivers had trouble getting open many times. I think part of the problem he has in holding the ball so long has a large part to do with his size. He doesn't really fear the pass rush and tries to string it out too long and make something happen. He needs to learn to throw it away when nothing is there.

oh, i agree, and i've said it one of these threads already, the reason you hate Ben (as stated above) is the same reason you love him. He's just got to play smarter.

I still can't believe Ben lowered his head on the 3 yard line. That is a move you can get away with against teams that play softer defense, not the Titans or any other tough defense for that matter.

He did that quite often yesterday. Thats why the ball kept coming out. I don't know if wearing a glove is helping much with that either.

Ben-1 superbowl,
Peyton-1 superbowl,
Kerry-0 superbowls.

I'm a Titans fan and I'm certainly not knocking Ben or Peyton for that fact.

oh, a rematch would be great. as bad as it was yesterday, i would like our chances in a rematch.
Given how the game went yesterday, I'd certainly like the Titans' chances in a rematch with Haynesworth and Vanden Bosch on the field as well.

cant' turnover the ball like we did and we have to protect the passer better. do that and let our D play like they normally do, and we can beat any team you put in front of us on a given day.

when we lose, we lose like we did Sunday.

ah, ben's a tough guy. he's been doing that his whole career, and keep in mind we do play the Ravesn twice year.........it's not like we've not seen a good defense before....let's see.......here's a smattering of the defenses we've played so far this year (total defense rank):

2. Baltimore
3. Philly
4. Washington
5. Tennessee (we played 3 d's better than TN, and the #2 D twice)
7. NYG
8. Dallas
10. New England
11. INdy
12. Jacksonville

that's 9 of the top 12 (and we're #1) defense we've played this year, and we're the 2 seed. no disrespect to the titans, obviously they're very good, but we've been playing good defenses all year....we didn't, nor will we, see anything that we haven't seen before, from a defensive standpoint.

i think playing the schedule we've played, and being 11-4, division winner, bye week for hte playoffs bodes well in the long run. i've already stated our issues, they are real. but it was a lot to expect us to win all of the following games consecutively:
New England, Dallas, Baltimore, and Tennessee. if you told me at the beginning of the season we'd go 3-1 over that stretch, i'd of taken it and not even asked who the Loss was to.

for all of our faults, we are a battle tested team. we won't see anything in the playoffs we haven't seen before.

The front four is the titans strength. There isn't a better rotation when everyone is healthy. The next time these teams met it will be a four quarter battle again. If they see each other again. Right now i'd say its very likely.

I guarantee you the Titans defense is better than the Eagles when healthy.. and probably better than the Redskins. Baltimore is the best defense in the league I think regardless of rank.

OK? i was merely pointing out that we face good defenses with regularity this year. seeing the Titans wasn't anything brand new for us.

I mean, they are good, but what are you really bragging about here.......the steelers' offense, and i've been saying this all season, is not that good. we are not the physical running type team that we have been in the past. if anything it's a finesse offense. I told you all last week that the match up was the Front 4 against our O line. turns out i was right. again.

what you did to the Steelers is what just about every defense has done to the steelers.

if you want to chirp about something, you should be chriping about your offense that was very efficient and was the first team to go over 300 on us. I go in to every game knowing that the offense is going to give up something. and that the defense can save us.

the only thing that was different Sunday is your offense didn't provide the opportunity for our D to take advantage of.

feel good about the offense. but your defense didn't do anything but shut down the 23rd ranked offense in the league, and like i said, we've been facing good/great d's all year long anyway. it just wasn't anything new compared to what i've watched all year long out of our offense.

We didn't shut down your offense. You passed all over our secondary and we did only decent against your running game - which you didn't go to much. Parker either lost a few yards or gained 5, 6, or 7.

Your offense shut down your offense this game - most teams would've scored over 14 points with the offensive production you had. You may have seen 5 or 6 turnovers Sunday with a healthy KVB, Haynesworth, and Bullock.

i'm just saying that's the offense we've had all year. it was no different than most any other game we've played.

I like how you're discrediting the Titans defense that had Haynesworth and Vanden Bosch out, and had a 3rd string rookie DT from Eastern Michigan record 3 1/2 sacks and 3 forced fumbles.

I would feel VERY confident in a Titans-Steelers rematch at this point.

That isn't a bad argument, but our backups were all over you guys on Sunday. Rankings tell you nothing about how one team matches up against another.

i think if you really read it i'm discrediting our offense more than anything. i've not said the Titans aren't good on defense. I"m just saying what you saw of the Steeler offense on Sunday is what i've watched this offense do all season.......against MOST of the defenses it's played against.

why is that so hard to understand? maybe you want to believe that there was some herculean effort put forth by the titans w/out the two stud DL, but the reality is, as good as they are with or with out those two, the steeler offense did what it's done all year.

what didn't happen is the defense bailing us out again.

you guys really should be boasting about your offense.

i know. i've watched just about every defense do that to us this year.

titans have a good defense. not arguing that.

just saying they didn't do anything spectacular. our offense sucks.

If your offense sucks like you say, how are you planning on going anywhere in the playoffs? Much less beating the Titans on the road again?
