When did this thread turn into a discussion about the Gaffney "catch"?I say it because it is established fact that the call was blown. The official has admitted that. The SEC has admitted that. There is no debate. It was the wrong outcome.

Let me try to explain this once and for all for my feeble-minded friends here at Volnation.
The "catch" or "non-catch" in the 2000 game is debatable. If I were in your shoes, I would surely take the view that it was dropped. It was a close call, no doubt, but it was a judgment call.
The 2004 game involved two mistakes, one a matter of judgment, one not. The first was hte one-way personal foul. The SEC says that it shoulfd have been called both ways, but that's still subjective, so whatever. But the failure to start the clock was a purely objective error. It is not debatable. It was wrong.
The SEC actually censured the officiating crew for that game due to that error.
The reality is that the calls in the 2000 and 2004 game are not remotely comparable.
Any body I've ever talked to has said that it was a catch. And I know more UF fans than UT fans.Let me try to explain this once and for all for my feeble-minded friends here at Volnation.
