This is a two-edged sword.
That's what happened yesterday, but on average Kobe scored 27.9 ppg @ .527 TS%.
The rest of the team on average scored 69.4 ppg @ .536 TS%.
Bynum and Gasol averaged 36.1 ppg @ .570 TS%.
So even though Kobe carried them yesterday, it's a damn good thing those bigs were around, because this would have been a very ugly offensive season for the Lakers, otherwise.
How about game 4 when Bynum was dominating and Kobe stops passing and jacking up shots. Whats the excuse on that game?
Okay. Who was making shots last night? Sessions? Blake? Bynum was off artest was pretty good and pau played okay. So who does be pass to?
Oh my bad you guys were complaining the other day about what he had done in the current game.
You're missing the forest for the trees. I agree with you. Kobe had a great game last night, but his teammates shooting 38% is not normal. That's a rarity. You can't say, "see they suck" and point to one game, when the last 70 games say otherwise.
This.
As we've seen in this thread, he can do no wrong.
The best they can hope for at this point is to give him a point guard that can shoot threes and try and tell him to not shoot the ball so damn much.
I agree he is not what he used to be, but he's still a good shooting guard who can make a difference. He gets a solid point guard, we trade Bynum for Howard, make some bench moves.. and were right there.
Oh, and A NEW HEAD COACH.
This.

Honestly I think you guys would be better trading Gasol and keep Bynum. I still Bynum can become absolutely dominant.
I would suspect if there's any PG of serious caliber that Kobe could be capable of respecting and deferring to, it would be CP3. But they need to land a big damn fish for that to happen. Hence the last part of my post about Kobe being told to not shoot the ball so damn much.
