(2) Thunder vs. (3) Lakers

They're not mutually exclusive but name a coach who is considered great that didn't have great players.

Would Greg Popovich be considered as great as he is if Tim Duncan never suited up for the Spurs?

Probably not.

Don't even have to go that far. If CP3 bears that much of the responsibility for his team's success, he would have accomplished a lot more in Nawlins. As it was, he won exactly one playoff series his whole time there, and much of the time his roster wasn't any worse than what he's got now.

They haven't been comfortable all year with brown and it showed. No clue why he didn't call a time out to settle them down when we were up 3 after durants dunk.

Part of the problem is they stand around for 20 seconds then kobe has to take a terrible shot.

"The closer" did his thing in the 4th quarter and led them to a whopping 12 points. He missed his last 5 shots, and had a turnover, and the ball that went off his hands out of bounds to blow the 7 point lead with 2 minutes left. Not to mention James Harden (his man) got to the bucket 3 plays in a row, to give the Thunder the lead.

This loss will hurt for awhile. The Lakers controlled tempo for the entire second half, but still couldn't close out the game. The point guard position is such a glaring weakness right now. I'm beginning to wonder how they can even address the issue in free agency.

Ha. The pass was on Blake. They held them to 76 points so clearly his defense and all their defense was good. Awful execution last 2 minutes. Call a time out.

And this isn't true either. Durant had 5 of their 8 points. A three and a floater over gasol.

Also the steal. Kobe didn't play well offensively most of the night. Had some big shots. Last two minutes was complete breakdown.

Yeah, I was off. Durant had 5 of their last 9, and Harden had the other 4, which all 9 points came in the last 2 minutes.

Yeah, traditionally it falls on the passer if there is a mishap, but that doesn't mean Kobe couldn't have come through and caught the ball.

My point in mentioning that is he didn't make any plays down the stretch.

Now that's damn funny:

Steve Blake is not going to make or break you. MWP goes 2/10 with 2 turnovers and only 5 rebounds in 40 minutes. Sessions was 1/3 with 0 assists. Why is he only taking 3 shots? Those are the guys that need to contribute.

Sessions is playing scared. Blake at least plays confidently.

He's in a weird situation. The Heat are probably the only team where the PG has the ball less than the Lakers. It makes sense for the Heat because Lebron is like the modern day Magic, and Chalmers isn't as good as Sessions. I'd like to see the ball in Sessions' hands more.

I'd take Chalmers over Sessions any day.

Chalmers can shoot the 3 and defend better, but I think that's nuts.

Per 36 minutes:

Sessions - 14.9 pp, 4.5 rp, 7.3 ap, 0.9 sp, 3.0 top, .570 TS%
Chalmers - 12.4 pp, 3.4 rp, 4.4 ap, 1.9 sp, 2.8 top, .578 TS%

Much better defender and Chalmers would have higher assist numbers if he actually played PG.

Why does he have so many turnovers if he doesn't have the ball much is my question?

Good question.

He plays more like a two guard than a point. He can be sloppy with his passing and that may be why he plays off the ball so much, that and James/Wade or so good with it in their hands.

I'll take his defense and 3 point shooting over what Sessions does no matter what the per 36 stat says.
