1st trip to Knoxville

Once a "top-notch" restaurant starts going nation-wide, you can expect the food to become exponentially worse.
The Palm is my favorite example.

I was just wondering if Knoxvillians would pay top dollar for a decent but not great steak. I know the money wouldn't be an objection.

Sorry for continuing to get off topic, but the quality of Ruth's Chris shouldn't go down as long as they don't reduce the grade of steaks they put out. IMO, when selecting a good steak place, it's not so much who cooks it, as much as it is the quality of the meat.

True, and it has gotten pretty far off topic. . . I am just suprised that Ruths Chris wanted to come to Knox.

NEBRASKA HAS ARRIVED IN TENNESSEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Red Sox game not going so well right now, yanks lost so that is good.

We got to knoxville around 1, got some food and headed out to get some vols gear! Tried to go to Hooters on Kingston Pike but that was very busy!

MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TnBasketballFan met up with my and we got the tickets. I really do appreciate that, he really made it right!!!!

No I am sitting in the hotel room, planning our day.

Thanks!

I am looking back thru this post, someone suggested we park at the womens basketball hallof fame, where is that? What street(s)??

Looks like we will come down kingston pike to the stadium or the strip.

That's the reason I checked in on this thread. Was getting really pissed you had a possibility of getting screwed on the ticket deal. Glad it all worked out so good. Expect to hear hear you and the wife screaming for the Vols over my tv speakers!!!! :clapping:

Here's the answer to your parking dilemma:

Drive your car to campus. When you see the pedestrian bridge going over cumberland (It says UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEEon it), Turn LEFT.

This is FORT SANDERS...where a lot of students live. Pay to park in someone's yard, introduce yourselves, tell them this is your 1st UT game, you're from Husker land, etc.

Make friends there, and commence to drinking.

If you go park in reserved parking, and at the far end of the strip, etc, you're gonna be with a bunch of old fogeys.

Go park in the fort and party with real students.

Fort Sanders parking For The Win.

If we are coming in on kingston park how do we get to this place??

Oh we will be screaming alright

SIDENOTE......Sunday we are going to the smokies, we are limited in time, how do we get there?

...and if you want to see strip mall hell, get off in Sevierville and cut through Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

Go thru Maryville and head threw Townsend on your way to the Smokeys. Lot more scenery that way! trust me!!!:good!:

Sweet thanks.....red sox need my attention and I have some bud selects to drink...good night fellas!!!!!!!!!!

I checked in as well to make sure that your tickets worked out alright. I'm glad to hear they did. Also, as for going to the mountains - follow the advice to go through Maryville and Townsend. Basically, take Pellissipi Parkway (from Knoxville, head I-40 West to the Parkway...then get on it heading south towards Maryville). Then, get off on Alcoa Highway towards Maryville. You can follow the signs then toward Townsend. I don't remember the specifics from there unforuntately..but I think that you stay on that same road through Townsend until you will see signs for Gatlinberg (to the left) or Cades Cove (to the right)...check out the Cove...beautiful.

After my last post last night the red sox win and then today the VOLS ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great weekend and I could not have done it without some help!!!!!!! Parked in a garage my the hospital, 19th street 2 blocks off the strip, stopped and had a few beers on the strip before and after the game, the wife would not really let me drink a lot. Went to hooters for some dinner and now we are back at the hotel.
As for tomorrow the mountains it is, we are right on 40 so we will just head east on 40
