KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Tennessee commit Greg Emersons comeback might be right around the corner.
Emerson, the No. 75 overall prospect in 2018 per the 247Sports composite, suffered a dislocated left ankle and fractured fibula during The Opening Finals in Beaverton, Ore., on July 2 and is working his way back to health.
The defensive end told SEC Country on Monday that the ankle is feeling good and his walking boot is in its final days.
Aug. 11 is the day I start walking again, Emerson said.
Emerson also began the physical therapy portion of his rehab Tuesday.
Just to exercise my ankle, Emerson said. They are basically just trying to get the motion that it used to have and trying to get that swelling down. Most of the swelling is already gone.
Its the swelling thats on top of the foot. Its going down, but its going down slowly.
North Side High (Jackson, Tenn.) began training camp at the end of June without Emerson on the practice field.
