It'll be hard for them to pull Emmerson with Harris, Litaker, Lawless, Taylor, Warren, Mays, Lane, and eventually Carvin in his ear.

Damn, just writing out that list of in-state guys is awesome.

It's been stated that he is still giving Alabama and OSU hard looks . Imo he is a vol lock.

for once it sounds like, at least for now anyway, that this may be a tough pull for OSU or Bama to get from us....i like that.

When it comes to in-state players, Von Bell is pretty much Ohio State's only pull from Butch Jones... Alabama is another story but still, Butch is closing that too.

Not really. Dooley was the one who didn't pursue Vonn Bell hard enough and destroyed a lot of local high school relationships. If Butch had the entire year to recruit Bell, he would have been a Vol.

my point is, it has been the way of the past for the very top recruits in the state of TN to explore, and take other options vs. staying home. Harrison Smith, the kid that went to USC, Von Bell, Tee Higgins etc....and it hasn't been extremely hard for big time programs to come in, make the pitch and get the guy.

this class is exactly the type of class Butch needs to put together, and create that culture of "you don't leave the state". and it's just nice to see that a lot of these guys have already committed, and those that haven't....they're not leaving w/out it being a true fight.

LSS....it's going to be a tough pull for anyone to get Emerson from TN, IMO. the relationships the coaches are developing with these guys, the relationships they're developing with each other....it's hard to beat that.

it hasn't always been that way. glad to see that taking on a life of it's own now.

Yes sir the blame falls squarely on Fooley on the Bell recruitment. Really a damn shame to have a kid that close and that staff not recruit him.

Good kid and a good family, he's taking his time and doing it right. Once he commits it's over. Tennessee is still the favorite but I don't fault him for wanting to evaluate all offers. Unless we just suck this fall I fully expect him to be in orange.

Can't wait for him to pull the trigger. I like where we are with him. We need to build a wall of Trey Smith, Litaker, and Lawless around him at OCD.

I believe 8 of our 13 2018 commits are instate. And the average Rivals rank for this class is 3.54 and the #7 ranked class nationally. Never thought I would see the day.

Getting him on board sooner then later pays multiple dividends for the staff.

-Gets him out publicly recruiting for the VOLS.
-Has our recruiting class probably up in the top 5 for the foreseeable future.
-Helps reduce whatever pressure there is on the season down just a little bit more to have the best looking class possible at the start of the year.

That and faaaarrrr better instate talent than we are historically used to seeing. We have had to recruit nationally like forever because you could count on one hand the number of D1 talent the state could produce in a recruiting cycle. But it is looking like that worm has turned.

No inside sources for me but I think he and/or Carvin commit this weekend. My thinking is based mostly on the positive momentum the reports indicate the Vols have with both and Litaker's early commitment. Litaker said he had planned to commit at OCD but could not wait. To me, that indicates that the next round of commitments are coordinating so everyone gets their moment in the sun, which also maximizes exposure for the Vols. Litaker committing along with Emerson would have been huge news but would have prevented each from maximum impact. That's just my two cents.

Man I do too. No sources just connecting the dots around it. This one seems very in-line with out the Litaker commitment. VQ came out yesterday saying they had sat on the commitment video for over a month. In that month I had read an article or two on Bama and how they were a threat to swipe Litaker away which we stayed very confident he was a Vol Lock this was where he was going. Sounds very similar to this situation. This along with others who tend to be negative at times talking about pieces coming soon but don't want to ruin their spotlight is leading me to think this is happening..... soon..... VQ probably already knows and might have already shot the video. Now that is going way out on a limb but I see it as very plausible.

Sounds plausible. Every pic of him I've seen, he's wearing UT gear. I think he commits earlier than expected too. Was just hoping you had sources to confirm.
