'18 GA QB Emory Jones (Ohio State commit)

You didn't. I think you are overestimating your impact here. Could still use your valuable help in telling me where I'm ignorant, dumb or foolish.

I figured it was obvious. Oh well. Some cannot see the forrest because of the trees. Explaining to you somethng you will obviously fail to accept and vehemently disagree with seems a little futile. So believe what you want.

I'm sorry you're not better at this.

I talked with Emory Jones while he was in Orlando, Fla., last month for the Under Armour Future 50 underclassman combine, and he said Tennessee had reached out to him a couple of times shortly after he committed to Ohio State. At that time, though — and this was just three weeks ago — he said he hadn't heard from the Vols in a while.

At least now the coaches can go back to Emory Jones and introduce the new QB coach.

I'm sure that will change nothing.

Don't be so sure, I don't know how Jones feels about Canales but with the coaching turnover in Columbus, it has given him pause to think. He did tweet that he is still committed, but the door is cracked open for sure.

If Martell is the next anointed one you will see it next year. Remember he is a higher rated recruit than Jones.

I believe he will be the backup with Barrett not leaving for the NFL. Barrett will really have to mess up for CUM to bench him for a freshman.

First off, Jones is higher rated in the 2018 class (5* in fact) than Martell (4*) is in the 2017 class. Secondly, that really doesn't matter since it is two different classes and they are both highly rated. Lastly, Jones has better measurables and a higher ceiling.

He is bigger and throws well. Jones is not a big time running QB like Urban usually goes for. He is mobile but running is not his strong suit. Martell and Haskins are more of the DT type.

My goodness... all these names and stars... how many quarterbacks are on their roster?
They have one or two for every class??

Same thing could have been said about Josh Dobbs coming out of high school, and I think he'd have done just fine in Urban's system.

Emory Jones will do well at tOSU if given the chance. Cardale Jones wasn't a huge running threat either, and he managed that system well.

The ceiling is only good if you get to use it. If he sticks OSU is about to have a good ole traffic jam at the QB position similar to A&M last year and USC a couple of years back

I agree, but I don't get the point as it relates to the discussion. JT Barrett will be the starter this coming year, and then in 2018, Haskins, Martell, and Jones all compete for the starting job. Very similar to our current QB situation with Dormady, S. Jones, and Guarantano. Most agree that Guarantano has the highest ceiling of our current QBs, and for that reason they believe he'll eventually win the job.

But, as you said, if he isn't given the chance, his ceiling is moot. Same for Emory Jones, but I think he'll be given every chance to compete in 2018, just as our three guys will be given the chance to compete in 2017.
