'18 GA QB Emory Jones (Ohio State commit)

I'm curious D4H, which film did you watch? Your own? Judging a kid off freshman and sophomore 'tape' isn't wise (for a fan) nor nowhere near a finished product even before college. Was their something in his 8th grade film that you saw that told you he needed more work?

The colonoscopy one.

You may want to do some more research on Emory Jones. He is a pro-style QB with mobility. No doubt college coaches will pitch him on being more of a dual threat guy if that's the system they run; but deep down he knows he's a passer first. The kid has really good throwing mechanics and is one of the best I've seen throwing on the run.

“I really see myself as a pocket passer but I can run just to get out of there under pressure and still make plays." -- Emory Jones

"I would say I'm Cam Newton from the neck down and Tom Brady or Peyton manning from the neck up." -- Emory Jones

"I know that I'm a throw first guy and I run when needed." -- Emory Jones

Any kid that believes they are already as good as the best dula threat qb and pocket passers is severely misguided. Lot of work to be a superman qb.
I like the fact that people worry about a kid thats two years away from signing and four years away from contributing on the field.

My point, you may get cancer and die in a year. It won't matter where he goes.

See, a lot of people say this and I would tend to agree, but a QB's recruitment is usually more finite and a little different. It doesn't seem like all that often a QB commits early and then does some jumping around. For the most part, QB's commit early to focus on being a cornerstone to a class, help recruit, and to focus on their game.

He could very possibly still look around and maybe make a move, but it just seems like he plans on shutting it down once he makes his final commitment. That's probably why he has been so coy about this whole process and hasn't made an irrational judgement call and committed to some during a moment of pure bliss at one of these big weekend events he has gone to. He takes it a little more seriously than most it seems. Which is a great thing.
There was a highly touted quarterback a year or two ago that switched commitments from I believe Texas Tech to Baylor and then I believe be committed and we committed to another school again. Hunter Johnson had us way above and beyond all other schools & I'm still clueless as to how that happened.

Not to mention the fact that nobody who actually evaluates players professionally at any level, from high school, NAIA, D3 all the way up to the NFL relies on Hudl highlights. You've gotta break down actual raw game footage to truly see what a player brings to the table. Coaches, scouts, and evaluators want to see players at their worst and during the lulls of a game in addition the plays that pop.

Correct. The scouts and evaluators go to games and actually watch the whole thing. Not just watch the highlights created by someone else. Of course D4H is much more qualified than any coach, scout or recruiter. So unless they agree with D4Hs assessments, they dont know what they are talking about.

I typically don't watch tape unless the kid commits or is a big target.

And I'm the last person to paint a rosy picture about a prospect simply because he's commits to us or doesn't.

I'm still saying Tee Higgins is a generational talent eventhough he's with Clemson right now. I'm still saying Maleik Gray is not that great a prospect eventhough he's our highest rated recruit according to the recruiting services.

I tells it like it is.

A generational talent? So that is implying that he will be one of the best WRs the country has seen in quite awhile. So he will be better than guys like Sammy Watkins, Jordan Matthews, Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, AJ Green, Percy Harvin, Marquise Lee and Dez Bryant right?

He committed to Ohio State, not Central Michigan.

So what? The guy said his dream school was OSU. Did he say his dream school was CMU? Nope. I have a feeling OSU being his dream school was the deciding factor. Of course who knows where he will end up. Long way until NSD 2018.

Like I said, your statement was pure speculation and unprovable. Just like mine is.

Maybe its about other guys playing some high scholl ball and getting offered between now and then?

You keep bringing this up. It's true, but what's the likelihood of players like Jones flipping? Especially when Ohio ST always has a realistic chance of winning it all,

Maybe we play them them for all the marbles this year and beat the snot out of them.

?

The guy he responded to said a miss for "this class".

I suppose he could have said "this class" and be referring to 2018. We are recruiting for and getting commitments for 2018 today.

This class is 2017.
This class is 2018.

Depends which recruit you're talking about. Jones is 2018.
