The counter argument is that it was mostly Tim Tebow. He won a title with Chris Leak, but that offense wasn't explosive, and Charlie Strong was his DC. Won a lot of games in the low 20's.

Before you suggest I am saying that Urban isn't good, I am not. He is a very good coach, but he obviously fell off when Tebow left. Would he have a tougher time in the SEC right now? No doubt about it.

Urban won big at Bowling Green and at Utah before it was any sort of power. I think butch is a great coach but Urban is way better. All I originally said was that if I were a QB it would be hard to tell Meyer no especially when looking at our offense's recent struggles in the passing game.

Maybe but he had driskell coming in and call me crazy but I think he would have won big time with him. Even if that hadn't worked Brissett likely would have. Urban would have no doubt run the east and probably would have won another SEC championship or two.

Never said that. All I focused on was coaching accomplishments. You're the one who brought the NFL argument into it.

We're recruiting with the big programs again! Keep your shirts on. Paul Fortenberry and Jones were real chummy the other day. That can't be a bad sign. Let this play out.

Lol no. I never said Urban was only good because he plays in the Big Ten cause obviously he's one of the best college coaches of all time. All I'm saying is when you're a powerhouse like Ohio St., who has more talent than anyone in the Big Ten, of course your offense is going to put up great numbers. I'm talking about the present, who has the easiest schedule this upcoming season? Urban does. Who has less pressure from their fanbase right now? Urban does. Butch has to coach with the big boys in the SEC and every game is going to be an battle. The talent difference between the SEC and the Big Ten isn't even close. Butch really struggled against the mighty Iowa Hawkeyes and the Northwestern Wildcats huh. Urban is a good coach but he's got the way easier path than Butch right now.

In my eyes you insinuated that urban's offense was only good because he plays in the big 10 when the reality is his offense is good because he is a legendary coach. He has won big in every conference he has been in. Butch has been pretty good so far. This year is his chance to prove he can win big in the best conference there is. Until then kids like Emory jones will be enamored with the idea of playing at places like tOSU or FSU or Clemson

If I'm a big time college QB prospect I would care quite a bit about my coach's ability to develop me for the NFL

I get why a top qb would go to.Michigan right now. You're a moron if you think urban s developing you for the next level

I would go to Michigan too or maybe FSU but urban has put QBs in the league. Alex smith is pretty good and I think Tebow got screwed over by elway. JT Barrett is going to the league and cardale jones just got drafted. He puts QBs in the league and they do have some success.

Tyler Bray and Matt Simms. Sometimes you don't have to really be that good or produce. Just have to carry a clipboard to make a roster. Alex Smith is pretty good but it is really the talent of the player and his desire. It's not like Urban is a QB whisperer. Maybe Urbs is a QB but that is ***** not quarter. Bout to be like everyone else in college football. One of the VB's. Vols B

Obviously by saying elway screwed him I'm referring just to his time in Denver. Tebow had a good thing going and then elway showed him the door. Elway made the right call because he got Peyton but it ruined tebow's psyche and whatever mojo he had going in Denver.

If you're good enough you're good enough. Who was in charge when Tebow had his modicum of success? Same guy who screwed him? If Tebow's psyche was so fragile, how would he have held up after a prolonged Kaepernick type slump. Common trait in successful to great NFL QBs? Tough mentality.

I was referring to the NFL comparison. It isn't fair to compare UF and OSU to Cincy and CMU. A fair comparison would begin next year. Pretty sure Butch will start putting guys in the league on par with Urbs.

Fair enough. Urban still got some guys to the league while he was at those schools though including No.1 overall pick Alex smith. I definitely think UT and butch are about to put some really good QBs in the league.

This isn't a discussion I want to have. I could argue that it wouldn't matter how strong his mental toughness is if he didn't have to deal with getting traded away. He could have just continued his winning ways with that great defense and stud pair of receivers. But neither of us is more right than the other. Also there have been plenty of guys that have gone from being successful to failures after they leave their original team for a new one.
