'18 GA QB Emory Jones (Ohio State commit)

This isn't a discussion I want to have. I could argue that it wouldn't matter how strong his mental toughness is if he didn't have to deal with getting traded away. He could have just continued his winning ways with that great defense and stud pair of receivers. But neither of us is more right than the other. Also there have been plenty of guys that have gone from being successful to failures after they leave their original team for a new one.

It's not a "discussion"...it's a dispute over your STATEMENT that Tebow would be a NFL success story if he hadn't been "screwed" by Elway. Maybe basing it on his small base of success in one season? Elway (knowing a thing or two about QBing in that league) knew that opposing DCs would adjust and banked on Tebow not being able to do what all successful QBs do and adjust to those adjustments. What's happened to even more athletic QBs like Kaepernick and Vick. Tebow wasn't and isn't a valid QB prospect or he'd be turning down offers like average to below examples who've moved around (Ryan Fitzpatrick). It's smart not to want this "discussion"...cuz your point is crap. :hi:

Obviously by saying elway screwed him I'm referring just to his time in Denver. Tebow had a good thing going and then elway showed him the door. Elway made the right call because he got Peyton but it ruined tebow's psyche and whatever mojo he had going in Denver.

Cmon man.

Weak psyche, weak arm, weak mechanics, inability to throw to correct receiver.

Bad QB.

If I'm a big time college QB prospect I would care quite a bit about my coach's ability to develop me for the NFL

I get why a top qb would go to.Michigan right now. You're a moron if you think urban s developing you for the next level

Urban has had two first round QBs, including a number one pick.

What they do in the NFL is on them.

For anyone interested, on his Twitter someone said "he gone" and he replied back with "nahh" so maybe he just wanted the offer.

I remember comments like yours, around this time last year, and sure enough, come February, sunshine and rainbows were plenty

Depends on how one wants to look at it. It wasn't a top 10 class which isn't a big deal if the fact wasn't that placed UT 7th in the SEC last year in recruiting at both Rivals and 247. No reason UT should not be top 10 every year with the nation's largest recruiting budget. Years past, TN had to get talent OOS, the talent is finally instate, need to close.

Smh. Everyone is freaking out over a sophomore in high school making a Twitter comment. That's worse than people declaring the 2017 class in May a bust. A little early to be walking to the ledge.

Whatever man. I'm not going to continue to fill this thread with a Tebow argument. You're not going to change my opinion on it and I'm quite obviously not going to change yours. Agree to disagree.

The truth is that even if the class rankings drop, we still won't know how good the class actually was until we see how those players perform in 2 to 3 years. I would take a #20 Butch class over a #10 Dooley class every time. So while the failure to live up to last year's hype has undoubtedly slowed recruiting down, I'm still not convinced that we are as screwed some of you think. Even if we don't land the headliners, I believe Bob Welton when he said that depth was good enough to start taking on guys that may not be as highly ranked now, but that they believe have a high ceiling. Sunshine? Nah, just not panicking until it becomes clear that we're actually in trouble.

And never underestimate the power of 10+ wins and a top 10 finish.

Lol no. I never said Urban was only good because he plays in the Big Ten cause obviously he's one of the best college coaches of all time. All I'm saying is when you're a powerhouse like Ohio St., who has more talent than anyone in the Big Ten, of course your offense is going to put up great numbers. I'm talking about the present, who has the easiest schedule this upcoming season? Urban does. Who has less pressure from their fanbase right now? Urban does. Butch has to coach with the big boys in the SEC and every game is going to be an battle. The talent difference between the SEC and the Big Ten isn't even close. Butch really struggled against the mighty Iowa Hawkeyes and the Northwestern Wildcats huh. Urban is a good coach but he's got the way easier path than Butch right now.

Yeah, I wonder how butch will get through the meat grinders and "battles" with app st, Ohio, tamu, usce, mizzou, U.K., tenn tech, and vandy. Serious talent there.

Lolz

Well, App St did beat the Big 10's mighty Michigan in the big house when they were still a FCS school.

Bowling Green, Tulsa, Rutgers, Indiana, Penn State, Northwestern, Nebraska, Maryland...do all of those untalented teams sound familiar??

You do get to try your shot at Oklahoma (COPYCAT!)...but Bowling Green and Tulsa should toughen you up for Rutgers,Indiana and Maryland. :aggressive: And you've expressed your extreme admiration for our bowl hate crime victim. Good luck brave warrior. :good!:

I love how aTm is suddenly considered a cakewalk by our Big 10 brethren who, in turn, extoll the virtues and qualities of the likes of Iowa and Northwestern.

app state is actually really good. Texas A&M has multiple draft picks

I just personally CB'd him to the VOLS

Emory Jones - Tennessee

See, now we are back in it

Edit: I know nothing

I certainly hope its the same case come NSD. I just dont know how the lawsuit is going to affect recruiting long term.

Butch could recruit when we were missing bowl games and getting in by the skin of our teeth. You can dang sure bet, that when we have a big season (and big seasons to come) he will only prove a stronger recruiter. :good!:

We will. How will ours stack up against theirs though?

To early to worry either way.

You are right Chavis, I guess I should be saying it is to early to be freaking out. I think we get a top 10 class after, freaking fingers crossed, we win 10/11 games. It's just sad that a lot of posters go straight into being defeated or he's gone. There are tons of recruits, cannot help if a couple in state guys want to go out of state, I mean, why wouldn't a kid want to get away. In the end, we will stack up nicely against others. There are several of the elite kids who like us, and half of the instate kids worth a look have us in the lead, or are considered leans. This season will help with the negative lawsuit crap. I understand being worried but don't be defeated already. Look at the end of last year, number one athlete on one site chooses the Vols, from Florida, right in Miami's wheelhouse, Calloway from Florida was in the last moments as well. We will be alright, I'm way more worried about CBJ's gameday coaching than recruiting.
