'18 GA QB Emory Jones (Ohio State commit)

What is it with all these damn kids in the South having Ohio State as their dream school?

It's mind blowing to me also.As many great programs as we have down here why any kid would go to Osu or Michigan. It's cold, flat and windy.Plus they play in a chump conference.

They can be dominate looking while playing against inferior talent 90% percent of the time, as opposed to slugging out stalemates against equal talent at most SEC schools in the meatgrinder schedules of the SEC. I mean look what we did to one of their best teams. That was brutality.

Rivals QB Challenge Finals...

"Recruiting wrap: Tennessee still appears to be the team to beat, but Georgia and Ohio State are among the schools giving chase.

Performance: If Lawrence was not the quarterback most in attendance would have offered a scholarship to, then Jones would be that guy. An immensely talented passer with tons of potential in his arm, Jones is certainly a signal-caller college coaches would be ecstatic to add to their programs. He took home the Strongest Arm award for throwing a 65-yard pass in the long toss competition, but his performance was impressive for more reasons than just his arm strength. Jones spins a beautiful football and has the ability to hit all points on the field."

We might have an Andrew Luck/RG3 (in college) situation here with Lawrence and Jones.

Can't go wrong with either one.

Speaking of Jones, it’s very interesting how Urban Meyer and his staff blocked the Vols from earning a commitment from Jones at Tennessee’s Spring Game just by asking him to hold off. Yes the Buckeyes are his dream offer, but it also shows the power of Ohio State in recruiting as Jones was all set to commit to the Vols.

If Urban asking him to hold off was enough for him to hold off then he wasn't ready to commit anyway. If he had made his decision then he would have committed no matter what Urban "Chest Pains" Meyer would have said.

If OSU is his dream school why hasn't he committed there? Is Urban stringing the young man along?

Does he have an offer from OSU?

We need to tell him if TL commits first then his offer is pulled. Hope he stills get that dream offer. Problem is if he then commits, he could still take off if OSU offers. I think we just can't take his commitment at this point period after this news. Because we could get stuck without anyone if we take his and stop recruiting as hard for someone else. Suck but Urbie knows what he is doing unfortunately.

I'd guess Butch has a feel for what each guy is thinking. If Butch thinks taking a commitment from EJ now means TL looks elsewhere, I doubt he takes it. Maybe Butch knows EJ would stick if he commits. Maybe TL isn't worried about what EJ does. Butch has a feel for how it would shake out I'd bet.

If he wants to commit now Butch will take it. But Butch wont stop recruiting TL hard because of it.

No offense, but NW was extremely average.

I think you may have very well helped him make his point. Our 45-6 win kind of showed that they were Avg (probably below avg), yet they finished 10-2 in the regular season. They played Big 10 teams, not SEC teams, to get to 10-2.

TN was 8-4 after a grueling SEC schedule and made NW look like they were standing still for most the game.

I think that was exactly his point.

He said they were one of the b10's best teams. How far are we going into the B10 here? I would argue they were maybe 5th or 6th.

They lost to the 3 best teams they played and didn't play msu or osu.

Hell, if you're going down that road, the 3rd best team in the big ran train on the sec east champ.

Neither argument makes much sense IMO.

Not last year they didn't. The SEC Champs went on to become the NC's.

Edit: ......and OSU won by 7 the year before....hardly ran train.
