'18 CA QB Adrian Martinez

Your post was just whining about somebody considering the possibility that something won't turn out sunshine and daisies. I never said anything about us being doomed or not getting Martinez. Just about our options if things don't work out. Recruiting is full of these hypotheticals and that's part of the fun of following it. If you can't handle that then pop a few xanax and then an extra 7-8 more for good measure.

And sorry if my backup plan doesn't meet your standards for optimism or aggression, but unless we manage to get back in on and Emory Jones or Justin Fields, it doesn't look like we're going to land a top QB this cycle.

Is that the end of the world? No. I'm not saying it is (though you seem to be the type who will try to construe anything less than rainbows-bursting-from-buttholes optimism as overwhelming negativity). Just thinking about the things as they stand with the Vols and their QB board right now. Penix has some good upside, but some question marks. If we don't get Martinez, we really need him to work out. There's a big drop off in talent after Penix and Martinez among the QBs currently considering UT. That's just what it is right now.

What would meet your optimism and aggression standards for a backup plan, btw?

Hmmm. After reading this I'm pretty sure I'm not the one needing the Xanax. I think we are in a good place with Martinez. I'll just leave it here and not get into a keyboard battle over it.

I think we're in a good place too lol I just don't think it's my place to try and police optimism on the internet

Isn't it embarrassing?

It's been embarrassing for quite sometime. The ones that continually think we lose every recruit when the Alabbubbas, Ohio PU and the OutHouse U's offer, still don't realize we used to, and since CBJ has been here, are starting to win these battles again. My fiery spirit is up tonight! Our future is headed in the right direction. Have a little patience in the process. This recruiting class will be top 7-8. Potentially top five! We are on our way back to the the top ladies and gents! Embrace it!!!

These kind of hyperbolic assumptions and claims are why so many people were disappointed with last year's class. We have no idea how it's going to shake out in the next 9 months.

It's because to be Great, you have to expect it! Would it be disappointing? Yes, but that's exactly what Tennessee should expect every year. With what we have going on in recruiting this year (who we are in on) - (who we already have committed). We would have to have a major disaster this year on the field, CBJ to get fired, and Neyland to burn to the ground, for us not to have a phenomenal class!

What's the connection to Ou? Does he like people getting away with beating women?

It all started with someone in this thread saying watch out for OU, now he gets and offer from them and everybody is freaking out.

I'll only get worried if he delays his commitment.

Callahan said on the Ainge show this morning that it looks like he is delaying his commitment...

Figured that would happen. All of them have been warning us that an OU offer would likely cause him to reset things. Oh well, on goes our search for a big-time QB prospect. It's crazy we are having such a hard time finding one in this class.

I think it's just bad luck to a degree.

Callahan also said that UT was still the likely landing spot. I listened to the segment and there was nothing to get Vol fans overly concerned.

Speaking of the Ainge show, they just reported that the Big 12 conference had only 14 players drafted total in this years draft. The SEC had 12 in the first round. Why would Martinez want to play in a conference that is power 5 in name only.

Soooo.....we are NOT getting this guy now?

I'll believe it when I see it. I think he really likes UT. The guy and his father flew out her on their own dime recently. I still think UT is very much in play.

Are you people forgetting that OU has a QB commit already
EDIT: I was wrong I thought they had a QB commit but they don't my b
