Your post was just whining about somebody considering the possibility that something won't turn out sunshine and daisies. I never said anything about us being doomed or not getting Martinez. Just about our options if things don't work out. Recruiting is full of these hypotheticals and that's part of the fun of following it. If you can't handle that then pop a few xanax and then an extra 7-8 more for good measure.
And sorry if my backup plan doesn't meet your standards for optimism or aggression, but unless we manage to get back in on and Emory Jones or Justin Fields, it doesn't look like we're going to land a top QB this cycle.
Is that the end of the world? No. I'm not saying it is (though you seem to be the type who will try to construe anything less than rainbows-bursting-from-buttholes optimism as overwhelming negativity). Just thinking about the things as they stand with the Vols and their QB board right now. Penix has some good upside, but some question marks. If we don't get Martinez, we really need him to work out. There's a big drop off in talent after Penix and Martinez among the QBs currently considering UT. That's just what it is right now.
What would meet your optimism and aggression standards for a backup plan, btw?
Hmmm. After reading this I'm pretty sure I'm not the one needing the Xanax. I think we are in a good place with Martinez. I'll just leave it here and not get into a keyboard battle over it.
Isn't it embarrassing?
These kind of hyperbolic assumptions and claims are why so many people were disappointed with last year's class. We have no idea how it's going to shake out in the next 9 months.
It's been embarrassing for quite sometime. The ones that continually think we lose every recruit when the Alabbubbas, Ohio PU and the OutHouse U's offer, still don't realize we used to, and since CBJ has been here, are starting to win these battles again. My fiery spirit is up tonight! Our future is headed in the right direction. Have a little patience in the process. This recruiting class will be top 7-8. Potentially top five! We are on our way back to the the top ladies and gents! Embrace it!!!
Callahan said on the Ainge show this morning that it looks like he is delaying his commitment...
Figured that would happen. All of them have been warning us that an OU offer would likely cause him to reset things. Oh well, on goes our search for a big-time QB prospect. It's crazy we are having such a hard time finding one in this class.
