'17 VA DE Elijah Conliffe (Florida commit)

I hadn't paid to much attention to this guy until now. Did Bama cool on this kid or did he cool on Bama? 247Sports has most of the CB for Conliffe being UT and Penn State recently but in the beginning it was all Bama.

I believe it was Brice who said there would be moves after Spring Semester begins (tomorrow) and before NSD.

LWS also said most, if not all, coaching changes will take place in the next 7 - 10 days and that was a couple days ago. I would think that if it's a situation where Strip is moving to a support role, this would be the kind of thing you would want to make public before NSD as I'm sure it could only help in recruiting guys like Conliffe and Ray.

Not sure how I feel about Hoke as a coach but isn't he supposed to be a pretty good recruiter?

I assume Stripling has recruited, to more or less degree, some of our commitments. You don't want to announce a change in an assistant's status and risk losing commits.

Bama cooled on him because of a numbers crunch. They are having issues with more than just Conliffe as well. They are going to turn down some highly ranked 4 stars.

I grew up in the same neighborhood as the Hoke brothers, Jon and Brady. We went to the same high school. Jon was a year ahead of me while Brady was a year behind me. Unfortunately, we did not hang together. My parents knew their parents, and I believe we went to their house on just one occasion, but that was the extent of our interaction.

Both Jon (Tampa Bay DB coach) and Brady are excellent defensive coaches. Brady was a successful HC at both Ball State (his alma mater where he played LB) and San Diego State, before having a less than successful experience at Michigan.

Brady should be a fantastic addition to our staff, both in coaching up our players and in recruiting.

To all our nega-Vols out there, the sun is about to shine on the Vols! Live with it.

Why would they leave? If that were true they'd feel misled after NSD

I am always amazed at how little people know about the careers of coaches with so much info available. Hoke is a home run. We are getting the MAC, MWC and B10 COY from 2008, 2010 and 2011. He's coached defense and D-line since he graduated from Ball State.

Which is the same thing we are getting with Rock at S&C. It will not take recruits long to figure this out.

I am really excited about the staff additions that Butch is making. Hopefully gets a big time QB coach over Canales tho

I don't think Canales would be a terrible hire. Not the one I would prefer, but not terrible.

I'm actually enjoying keeping up with all the possible coaching changes for UT. It is a whole lot more enjoyable than the AD search. If Butch can pull off some of/all of these changes with good/great hires he will win a bunch of the fans that he's losing back.

Recruits will take notice of the hires. Of course they will take notice if he screws it up too.

I agree. Butch could completely change his tenure at TN with the right hires. He could go the Dabo route or the opposite direction depending on who he hires. So far so good imo
